1. 1/5No privacy, no control, they own your content.

   Always read the privacy statement IN DETAIL. There is the very carefully worded section of the privacy statement that looks like you own all the copyrights to your content, but you don't. This could be described as deceptive, but not knowing their motives I can't positively day it is...but, IMHO, I can't imagine it not being purposely so. Read carefully, Driver promises you full copyright ownership of your content. A bit further down (now that you've been treasured why would you keep reading, right?) you grant permanent, irrevocable, royalty free permission to Driver and any third party involved to USE, AND OR DISPLAY YOUR CONTENT IN ANU WAY THEY CHOOSE. Put more simply, you have only limited copyright protection, just not from Driver and their affiliates. You can prevent uncle Joe from making money of it or using it on an embarrassing or possibly incriminating way, but you give up the right to protect yourself if Driver decides to use it for some reason, nefarious or not. I'm sure that they'll reply that they would never do so, but that would amount to a friendly promise that does not supercede their policy. I wouldn't trust my sister with that. I didn't look through the policy past their somewhat deceptive (my opinion) policy structure because that was more than enough for me to immediately delete it. There are other apps that don't require subscriptions and don't use scare tactics in their advertising and use literature. There is no reason that I, the consumer, have found that makes paying a subscription worthwhile in any way. To use this app you MUST share your content with them under the above terms. So, I have to recommend that anyone who cares about their rights and privacy to find another so that does not force you to share you're content and then take away any real control over it. For me, no way.

2. 5/5Easy, effective, just what I needed-New comment…

   New comments: Love the new improvement with picture in picture feature so my navigation map is visible when driving. This app keeps getting better. Thanks. Original review: It’s easy to open the app, place the phone on my magsafe mount in the center of my dash, press record, and go. I do it without thinking now. I love the fact that I can quickly delete uneventful trips, or set a schedule for deletion so it doesn’t overload my phone. I can also see stored videos online if needed for a truly modest subscription. I can choose HD if I want to capture small details like license plates, etc. I recently saved some video of a near miss so I know I can access an accident if needed. I’m able to review trips on my Mac—a nice convenience. I also used it with navigation and it worked fine. I’m on an iPhone 14, so I don’t have an option to record sound yet, but that’s not a feature I have to have. It beeps if it detects a possible hazard, and clearly identifies the objects in front of me by name—car, bus, truck, person. Frankly, I can’t believe this app is available for my phone. I can’t think of a single reason why I’d want to pay for an independent dashcam. This does the job effectively, with a device I already own. Great app.

3. 3/5I really want to like it

   Ok first off I have an iPhone 11 ProMax. I am not experiencing any of the issues some users are saying about low volumes while listening to music with the app running nor any phone overheating issues at all. I’m usually using Apple Car Play and can listen to my music and have Apple Maps running and have no heat issues or volume or sound quality issues while this app is running. That’s a plus. My issue is with the recording video size in one giant recording instead of smaller loops. This eats a large amount of storage space on my phone and I have not found a way to delete unwanted recordings except wait a week for each one to drop off via the settings. That won’t cut it with me so now I pick and choose when I really want it to record in order to save space. I received no response as of yet when I emailed 1-2 weeks ago asking if there was a way to delete recordings. I may end up just purchasing a stand alone dashcam. I give them an A for effort though. If I see some improvements I’ll change my rating.

4. 5/5Exactly What You Want Without BLOAT. Simple

   I’ve been using the app for 2+ months now with no issues. I go off-roading in my Jeep and two hour trips record no problem. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and have no heat issues with the phone (the phone gets warm/hotish but no warning and mine is in a case). My one complaint (and I hate to call it that because it’s such a first world problem) is that when I “share” a video, even when I snip it down to like 90 seconds long, I takes FOREVER to make the clip. In HD a 90 second video might take 8-10 minutes to download to my photos. Maybe longer. It takes a while. Did I mention it takes too long? Like start the share and go wash your car (or grow a beard). Is it because of the video resolution on the iPhone 13? Great product. I showed to to friends and now there are at least 4 of using it all the time (especially when off-road).

5. 5/5An Absolute Must-Have App!!

   First off let me just say that I regret overlooking this app once before in the AppStore. I REALLY wish I would have downloaded and used this app a long time ago but I am happy to know that despite how long it’s been since it first launched that the app developers are still supporting this app. I am a Lyft Driver and I have been with the platform for over 3 years and counting as of the time of this posted review. I once had a physical dash cam setup in my car but it wasn’t fully functional during the time I had it. Unfortunately I was involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in my car being totaled in 2019. In short, I have been involved in about 3 major accidents over the last 3 years. Thankfully I can still drive and do what I enjoy as a Lyft Driver but now after recently downloading this app, it has given me a guaranteed sense of security and safety each time I get behind the wheel. Without a doubt, this app is very much essential for every single driver regardless if they commute back and forth to work, run quick errands to gas stations or a drive-thru, even taking road trips across country. It doesn’t matter how much driving experience an individual has. 1 year or over 10 years. This app could bring you peace of mind knowing that IF an incident or accident does occur that the video recordings can serve a significant purpose especially when it comes to insurance claims but speaking on behalf of Lyft and even Uber drivers, this app is so easy to use and overall it deserves millions of downloads. Thank you so much for creating this app Driver Technologies Inc. Please continue the future support and updates to make it even better. 10 stars!!
