4/5Needs Refinements but Promising
The player interface UI could use some work. It feels very disjointed from the rest of the app. I feel like the player card could be way more unified. The elements feel like they were just thrown together. I feel like the album art and playback controls shouldn't be separate, and there is too much empty space at the top, making the player look weird. Also, whenever I'd try to add cover art to a song, the changes would not be saved.

2/5Great player, very buggy though
Great and simple music player for your iOS device. Much better than the default iOS music app and worth every penny if a stable release comes out. There are lots of pesky bugs though. The updating logo is right over the play/pause icon making it tricky to pause music when the library is updating which seems like it’s constantly updating. The app crashes a lot - not exaggerating this. Each crash resets your play count and any playlist you create. CarPlay causes the player to crash about every 10 seconds, not a big deal but is annoying. Overall a great music player for your personal music library but the constant and consistent bugs make it difficult for daily use. I may give it another change whenever a major update comes out.

5/5Superb, well-polished app, deserving of its name.
I’ve been searching for ages for a well-designed, beautiful, standalone music player, and somehow missed this gem! It’s full-featured, without any intrusive telemetry or analytics (thank you, developer). The interface is modern and fluid, and it doesn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming. While it may not have the mind-boggling number of features that Poweramp offers (it’s not an iOS app), it shines through with its understated elegance that enhances your music experience without getting in the way. While I have experienced an occasional crash, I feel fairly confident that this will be fixed in coming updates.

1/5Unstable, Crashy and Unreliable
Constantly crashes and exhibits strange behavior while doing basic things, like playing audio, which is the only thing it should be able to do well. All the time and effort spent on fancy visuals and animations (that are also broken in places, like the initial invocation of search) and it can’t play back a playlist of 10 plain mp3 songs without hitches, dropouts or crashing. Every track begins with a hitch that repeats the first 10 or so seconds of it, and playback just stops randomly at different times. I have never been able to play a complete album of 10 or 12 regular mp3 files to play through without issues. Also forget about skipping back and forth between tracks, it just cannot handle that. Seems like a bad joke, a toy, rather than a serious reliable tool. Wish I could get my money back.

5/5This is it.
I have been forever angry at the fact that the stock music app got ruined by Apple Music, at least for those of us who still sync our music. Slowly over the years Apple Music has crept in even though we have shut it off. Well, here’s the better solution rather than tolerating the ads. Doppi brings back that feel of the Music app before it got loaded down with subscription cruft. It works just as well with my library as the stock app and even lets you add to your library without a computer. It’s a beautiful app. Well worth the price. Thank you for saving my sanity.

5.1.16
The Doppi project started over 10 years ago now. Crazy! Everyone deserves a little break once in a while. I'm back with an update that's all about the details: • Doppi now remembers and restores the last playback time before the app closes (and you can turn it off in Settings) • Player background effects automatically switch to Static when Low Power Mode is enabled • Changed search engine for lyrics and artwork to DuckDuckGo for easier copying/pasting • Last.fm: album title is now included on each scrobble • Stability and reliability improvements For Free users: the song limit in your library has been reduced to 90. Pray I don't reduce it further! (I will.) If you're a Free user and have more songs stored in your Doppi Folder than the current Free limit, Doppi will choose 90 of them, and they will be a different selection every time you launch the app. Yeah. You can choose to end this blasphemy for yourself and your family by tapping the buttons designed to give me your money. I've been doing this for 10 years — I think I've earned it. Enjoy!

5.2.3
Doppi 5.2.3 has a refreshed, more floaty interface in the library and Search, as well as some fixes and optimizations for larger libraries and heavy files. You probably know this already, but Doppi 5.2 brought us Timed Lyrics and Get Lyrics — two features that go hand in hand, chocolate and peanut butter. Or chocolate and strawberries. Or chocolate and mint (controversial!). Chocolate is just really good, though some people don't like it, and that's okay. The What's New Copywriting Division at the Marketing Department at Doppi International Headquarters wishes you a nice evening, and as always, enjoy.
