4/5Good & Convenient BUT It’s Missing Something
Please, please, please integrate a 96Khz sample rate at 24bit over USB to DJM-Rec for superior recording functionality with the capabilities of the DJM-A9. This capacity would eliminate so much competition and would truly make my day. My entire production chain is digital from cdj-3000 outward with no conversion steps. I would truly appreciate the ability to capture my audio at the digital quality of my top of the line Pioneer Equipment. I’m an certain the most recent iPhones can handle this, and surely adding the feature into the DJM-Rec app for integration with the a9 would be a nominal time investment for your development team.

1/5Does NOT work with ios26 & DJM900NXS2 - NOT FIXED AFTER 9 MONTHS SINCE iOS UPDATE RELEASED.
Super buggy, audio is messed up, slowed, and distorted now with iOS26. Doesn't properly record audio from the mixer. We had a professional gig and we needed recordings of all our dj sets. NONE of them sound clear. Has to be bugged with ios26 which has been out for 9 months already btw...yet they only alerted users to not upgrade to the new iOS after last month's app update. You have got to be joking me. Used my older iphone 7+ and records audio perfectly from the 900nxs2. This is just another app that this company makes that ends up buggy and broken and won't ever get fixed because the devs do not test or keep this app updated. I genuinely cannot believe this company is the 'industry standard'. I mean...even this app's own copyright information below in the app store still shows it's from 2020 lol. Can't even be bothered to update to 2026. They clearly do not care. Insane to think a $7k+ CDJ setup cannot record clean audio.

1/5Recorded an hour set & it’s useless
I tried searching online for a solution, other people have had this issue but there doesn’t seem to be a solution. In the past I’ve recorded mixes just fine but today I tried to record a set that I’m on a deadline to send in, recorded an hour, went to listen back and the set was slowed and distorted. Tried to fix it on my computer but couldn’t. I was going to re-record the set but wanted to troubleshoot and, regardless of the cable used or the format I record in, when I go to listen back the audio sounds slowed and distorted. So is the app bricked? Tried closing out of the app, turning on & off the mixer, nothing works. Please fix this. I was a fan of the app, I would recommend it to my friends & give it 5 stars if it worked but I need to record a mix to send to people & right now I can’t personally get it to work and people online for YEARS have also experienced this issue.

3/5Tl;dr It’s great when it works.
Title basically say it. Haven’t tried the latest update that fully fixed iOS 13 issues. I guess I was lucky with how it actually worked in most ways, as opposed to others where it wouldn’t even get passed the splash screen. The main issue was it not seeing a mixer via USB. That usually worked after a combination of unplugging and replugging in my phone, and power cycling or hard resetting the phone and the mixer. A close second to that would be that the app would switch between how it was recording mid mix, eg: I would have it set to record via the lightning port and then mid-record, it would switch to a mic on the phone. I never figured out a fix for it because I usually found out after everything was done and I was going back over the recording. I did notice it would only happen when I was recording just audio, not streaming or anything video related. The streaming and recording directly off the mixer produced great quality on the audio and video side. Getting a stream or recording going was fairly easy to use as long as the app was stable. The integration to stream right to services as well as being able to save recordings to audio only streaming sites at the end is a great idea with great implementation and worked consistently well. I always save a local copy as well as a backup to Dropbox, but being able to stream and save right out of the app (directly to FB live, IG live, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, etc.) is great on the workflow and ease of use sides of things. Again I haven’t gotten to play around a whole lot with the newest release that supposedly fixed iOS 13 issues, but I will update this review when I get a few more sessions under my belt on it. So far it has been a lot more consistent and stable, along with all the positive aspects from before.

5/5Love DJM-REC - works well due to continuous improvement
I'm DJ Jen Siren and I've posted over 50 DJ sets to SoundCloud that were recorded with DJM-REC. It has been a lifesaver for my pandemic DJ life! I've been able to recod moments where I've freestyled mg best mixes, and also perfect my DJ skills through listening back to my recording. Thank you! My recommendation is to have the ability to adjust the sound on a time scale so that I can taper the volume into the intro and out of the outro. I usually use Ableton for that, but would prefer to be able to directly upload it to SoundCloud as a finished product. That functionally is very nice, and I do appreciate being able to upload to different devices. It would also be cool for DJM-REC to be able to link to my CDJs so that the artists and song titles show up for the timings of my mixes. Right now, I export through recordbox, and upload to SoundCloud as private until I manually copy/paste from the export into my SoundCloud track info. Again, I love this app!
