Flock “Safety” and other surveillance companies have gotten rich by ensuring “you can’t get a breath of fresh air” without the police knowing about it (that is a DIRECT QUOTE from Police Sargent Jamie Milliman who used data from a Flock camera to falsely accuse an innocent woman of theft). The DeFlock app does exactly what it says, it allows you to help map where these cameras are located to draw public attention to how out of control the surveillance state has become.

Flock “Safety” and a few other surveillance companies have gotten rich from installing over 80,000 AI powered license plate cameras around the United States. These cameras ensure “you can’t get a breath of fresh air” without the police knowing about it (that is a DIRECT QUOTE from Police Sargent Jamie Milliman who used data from a Flock camera to falsely accuse an innocent woman of theft near Denver, CO in October 2025). This app helps map where those cameras are located and to draw public attention to the fact we are living in a surveillance state.

Learned about this noble effort from the conversation with Rossmann at the end of the Denver livestream. I’ve since added 5 cameras in my area and learned they were already installed - city contracted with Flock some 2 years ago (to the credit of city officials, I’m impressed, or maybe surprised is the word, by their proactive approach on privacy. Transparency is an opportunity though). So pleased to see the app has shipped and with more functionality than I expected - hats off to the Devs.

4/5POLICE ARE MANIPULATING CAMS
As a developer since 2008 I used ushahidi map pins when it started this brand of mapping. I know the pitfalls and I drive everywhere. You should not allow delete unless confirmed by several users or add a pic feature to show the camera there and any camera with a confirmed pic can not be deleted because police are deleting the flock pins in black neighborhoods. Look at small towns in NC and notice that every time you see train tracks you see no cameras on one side of the tracks. The black sides. I can’t put all the black neighborhood cameras in by myself. What is concerning is that some of these police actually live in the black neighborhood

Hi so I wanted to inquiry a suggestion to make it accessible for us to add photos rather than just gps location we should have useful data like how high the camera is, model, a removed icon(if needed), comments under post an update reminder aswell to encourage consistency, you should also expand on the publication of manifested malware like adding a forum where people may discuss similar topics outside today’s media outlets like Reddit & tiktok I truly believe this can be an oasis of sorts scratch that a training ground
