5/5Exactly what I need to help me
Long time user of the MyPlate app that one day just disappeared:( so with that, I went in search of another calorie tracking app and finally settled with this one. At first, I did not think this app would work for me, for many of the foods I eat were not found in their database, so I confused this as not helpful for me and decided to find something else. Months later, unsuccessful in finding an app I liked, I came back and decided to give it another try. Even though many of the foods I eat are still not in their database, I discovered I can easily add them myself and get this app to work perfectly for me. You can add in your own recipes and track those, & add in your exercise routine as well. Glad I came back a tried this app again. I’m sure with time and the amount of foods I’ve added to their database as well as others adding theirs, this app will continue to improve.

4/5It’s only the beginning...
To be fair, I only downloaded this app last night but I wanted to share my appreciation for it so far. I was tired of using myfitnesspal. I never liked the design of it much and I just never seemed to lose weight or feel any type of success. However, I need to track cholesterol because that suddenly became a thing I had to worry about and the majority of other tracking apps made that impossible without paying. Therefore, I really, really, really love CalorieKing for not just tracking macros AND for letting me choose what I want to glance at quickly when I open the app. I don’t know how well my weight loss journey will go (that’s on me), the ease of seeing nutritional details is wonderful. The design is lovely and I certainly don’t mind adding in food details. I also know some days I will be in a rush out the door or into bed but I need to slow my add down anyway. Another thing I love about it from the start is I can put in recipes. I am always cooking, baking, and I love trying new recipes. I haven’t used it yet so I don’t know the pros and cons, but the fact that it’s there and so easy to find got me stoked. The only thing I wish it had a button for is syncing with my Fitbit. That way, the steps and exercise I do get in a day goes right into my calories burned and vice versa. This is the only critique I have at first glance. I’m excited to get more into this app and look forward to little changes here and there.

4/5Keeps getting better
I have used this app for several years now and find it very helpful. Their upgrades over the years have made it much more user friendly. Since I travel a lot internationally and use different phones, I like that, once logged in, I can input my data for the day onto one phone and it will immediately show up on another phone, as long as I am logged onto the same account. Also, I like being able to input customized foods, for all those good German and Hungarian foods I eat. The major downside I have found over the years is that you must spell entries exactly like they are in the app’s database, otherwise, the program will not recognize your entry and may give you a “no results/matches”, that can be frustrating for us spelling “challenged” folks. Obviously, this has not stopped me from using it. Like any calorie counting app, YOU MUST USE IT TO BE EFFECTIVE!!!! Good luck:-)

5/5Very helpful to track food intake and activity
I’ve been using Calorie King for 13 months now mainly for tracking food intake and I’ve lost almost 60 pounds. Since I’m tracking Carbs, fiber, protein, calories and fat I’ve been able to manage each of those categories and have been able to get off my two Metformin pills and Lisinopril that I’ve taken every day for the past 10 years. My Cholesterol and Lipids are way down and my Testosterone has increased back into a normal range. My A1C is 5.4 which is the lowest it’s ever been and that’s after stopping all the Metformin. In conjunction with Calorie King I use MapMyWalk by Under Armour. My goal is about 20 miles per week and have been able to do that for the past 13 months. I’m 6’3” and 240 pounds down from 300. I’m 70 years old. I highly recommend Calorie King and MapMyWalk for tracking food intake and exercise.

4/5Such a helpful tool
A recent health issue necessitates I track my carb, protein and fat intake, not necessarily my calorie intake. I also have to be neurotic about staying hydrated (something that’s difficult for me, usually). This app has been GREAT in meeting my specific, albeit unusual, needs. It is easy to enter new foods in, with lists that populate various options to pick the right one. It’s easy to create a full size recipe for repeated use in the future and will figure the nutritional information for just one serving. When you enter a new meal, foods you’ve entered previously populate first via predictive text, which is helpful. I love how I can finish my day and see how I have (or haven’t) stayed on target and/or how I can make informed decisions at a given meal or snack because all of the day’s info is at my fingertips. The only thing I wish was slightly different (to merit a full 5-star rating) is to have generic items populate first. For instance: if I type in onion the first time, a ton of fast food and/or restaurant options w/ the word ‘onion’ in their menu option populates first. You have to scroll through a ton of stuff before you come to a generic, plain ol’ “onion, raw” option. This has been the case w/ a lot of foods where restaurant options populate/take precedence over grocery options. Not a big deal or a deal breaker for me, for sure. But a change in how the food list populates would bring you to perfection in my book. No matter what, tho, a very helpful tool that I’m deeply grateful to have right now. It’s helping me stay on track and I thank you for developing it!
