Thank you for FINALLY making an app for the Common App. This literally helps a lot of us out who are doing this on the go. Obviously, the Common App is something millions of students already use for their college applications, so this review won’t really be geared toward the platform in general, but more towards the actual app performance. Now, this app is just starting out but I do believe there are some issues that need to be resolved before I can give this a higher rating. I shouldn’t have to login every time I leave the app to switch to another one. This is my phone after all, other folks aren’t going to be accessing it. At the very least, keep us logged in until an hour of inactivity has been reached, not when I go into Google Docs for a moment. Also, are there ways to increase the size/shape of the text boxes so that you can read all of the words you have written at once? The full screen button doesn’t work. Thanks.

1/5Do not use Common App
I submitted my application the 8th, it’s now the 17th. The school I submitted to is saying they should have it by now and they don’t. The customer service team on live chat at common app keeps telling me different things and keep assuring me it’s been sent to the school when it hasn’t. Common App customer service doesn’t seem to want to help figure this out except say talk to the school which I did. Apply to the school directly if you can and skip Common App. Update: After battling with my application process and despite Common App customer service telling me multiple times that my application was submitted to the school and they have access to it and should be able to download it, Lo and Behold, my school didn’t have access to it. My school right out said “Common App has not released their applications to us for download”. Week after week went by and Common app finally released the applications. This is been the biggest headache of my life, Common App customer service needs to quit lying to applicants saying “It’s available for download” when it wasn’t and it was Common App holding things up. I’m trying to plan out my education here and they are making a headache of it.

Too bad they didn’t launch the app earlier this fall because I think this would’ve been much easier for me to just use an app rather than having to login into a computer, and I’ve already submitted all my applications, so I don’t really need the app. I still downloaded it just bc I was curious and I’m really impressed. It's not glitchy at all. It looks exactly the same as the website, which is already convenient and organized itself. It's also fast in opening PDFs or external links. 5 stars!!!

I have been using the common app app (I know saying it like this sounds weird but I don’t know how else to express it) and today I happened to use the website instead of the app since I was on my computer instead of my phone. The website asked me to log in as though I hadn’t used Common App in a year, even though the last time I used it was last week through the app. Then, I noticed that the “My colleges” tab was blank even though when on the app I have like 7 colleges listed there. Then I compared the CAID number on the website and app, they’re NOT the same. I use the same email and password on both places. This app is a scam, if that’s the right word. Don’t use it. PLEASE use the website.

1/5Truly horrible, even worse customer service
The Common App is unhelpful, inflexible, and outdated. Their method of making students send a message out to access customer service is ineffective as they don't respond. Simple mistakes are not properly handled and overall my journey with this app has been stress-inducing and nerve-wracking. I wouldn't recommend this to a student who desperately needs to complete their college apps as any road bumps are not tended to. Decisions as simple as not locking students into verification, responding to messages, or giving a number of contacts could help enormously. Many students have complained about the outdated system of this program and yet their opinions have been neglected. Use at your own risk.
