  1. 5/5Well worth the money

Yes there are a bunch of free translator apps and online dictionaries, and this one is neither free nor cheap, but it’s worth every penny. It’s very easy to use, and the information provided for every word is comprehensive, usually with sentences provided to show how the word works. This is especially useful for figures of speech or word usages that don’t directly translate. For example, you may “practice” piano in English but you “work” piano in French. The listing for practice explains that sort of thing. It also has complete conjugation tables for every verb, which are provided directly after the definition(s). I love this app!

  2. 5/5Wonderful dictionary

I love this dictionary so much! I have resisted buying a dictionary app for years, but now I’m kicking myself for waiting so long. You have a wealth of definitions at your hand as well as full verb conjugations. You can enter a conjugated verb and it will tell you the verb it’s conjugated from. There have been some words not in here, but so far, very few. Buy this thing; you won’t regret it!

  3. 4/5Racine on a hand-held

This is a competent, professional attempt to put a highly sophisticated language into the palm of your hand. Collins is a very good company, and is much helped here by the small vocabulary of French (compared to the unwieldy empire of English). Of course it’s not enough. Secondary meanings are skimped, old forms are not much given, rare words become rarer here. This app will do much more than let you say “Ung cafe seel voo play.” It will certainly let you talk to persons other than Mademoiselle D’Armentieres. It is fine for office and ordinary letters. If you want to read Racine, the Medieval romances and Bossuet you need a big paper dictionary. Oxford or Larousse, probably

  4. 5/5Very helpful for beginners

I love being able to have a good dictionary on my phone, without needing to have an internet connection (unreliable wifi and/or low signal strength of cell towers). Conjugation is a plus. I have the unabridged Collins, but it is a brick of a book and certainly not practical for use away from home.

  5. 5/5THE best French dictionary!

I love everything about this dictionary app, but the thing I love the most is that you can input a conjugated verb and it will give you the infinitive and the meaning. Other dictionaries do not do this and you have to search and search. So glad I bought this dictionary, merci beaucoup !
