1. 5/5Not A Bad Name

   Chord Butter…. sounds about right. I never leave reviews, but I was having truly an awful awful night. The only thing I could think of in the moment was finding an app that can create instrumental so I can sing and channel my hard times through. This app has a beautiful interface, quick loading, super, super super fun chords that make every generation sound very unique, interesting, modern and makes it very fun. The price is pretty good. If I was to leave one recommendation, I would say to add more instrument variations to the generation. Keep up the great work.

2. 1/5Don’t make an app free if its not free, especially if theres nothing to offer

   Ive seen countless ads of this app all over my instagram feed and it looked interesting enough so I decided to give it a go. First things first, hate that this app asks questions about me. I do not like being apart of data farming and I just want to use the app that I downloaded. Second, a subscription model? really??? for chords???? that I can google??? Now I understand as a developer wanting to be paid and a subscription model is more consistent income but I downloaded this app because it was free. If you worked hard on the app and you want money from this CHARGE FOR IT UPFRONT. You dont charge upfront because there is 0 value in this app. This app WILL NOT improve your songwriting unless you have no idea how to write music. This app WILL NOT help you play your instrument better. This app plays chords and THATS IT. If you are currently a songwriter or are semi proficient in your instrument of choice this app genuinely will do nothing but slow progress and make it harder to write music without this. This app is not worth $70 when garage band has this same feature in its piano section. Now can I arrange it in gb? No but i can read which chords there are and play them or put them in my daw. If this app was 99¢? f it I would probably have this and use it every now and then when I have beat block but $70? or a subscription? you are out of your mind man. If you are thinking about getting this app, save your money and buy FL for $130 more, matter of fact download the free trial. you will learn more from that than this will ever give you.

3. 2/5Can’t save without paying?

   First, let me start by saying I really appreciate the concept of this app. It’s like FL Studio’s chord progression creator, except easier to use and on mobile. What I don’t appreciate is the monetization model. There’s no way to save your song, not even get a txt file of your chords, without singing up for the subscription. This limitation was not explained to me when I first opened the app. So essentially, you only get to make one song for free, and it’s stuck in the app forever unless you subscribe. Now I’d understand if the monetization model was something more reasonable, like you can only have an 8 bar song max unless you subscribe, but as it stands I’d like to see a clear warning that savings your song, in any way, requires payment. Also, you can only pay per week, per year, or for a lifetime license (which, since the price is pretty close to a base edition of FL Studio, is too expensive). A monthly option seems more reasonable to me, but that’s just my opinion.

4. 5/5By far the most straightforward , effective composition tool

   ChordButter is ideal for anyone who wants to put chords together and then play the progression while modifying any element of the progression as it plays. It’s very user friendly, unlike many composition apps and DAWs. Perfect for putting the bones of a song together, then you can export the song into a more sophisticated DAW for polishing. If you’re trying to write your own songs, this is the best place to start. Well worth the few cents per day subscription fee.

5. 5/5Just what I was looking for!

   I have been looking for a song sketching app that works like this for years! I use Logic and Dorico for my final products, but it’s unwieldy to use them to jot down ideas. And every other songwriting app I’ve tried isn’t quite right—most are focused entirely on either/both chords or lyrics but require audio recording for melodies. Chordbutter is great for all three (adding a rhyming dictionary would be awesome, though!) and it works seamlessly between devices. Thank you!!!
