  1. 1/5Poorly designed and not maintained

This app has too many flaws. First, there is no option to use Face ID. You have to type in your password every time. And, often when you try to go to the password box, it moves the page down, and you’re not actually in the password box. It is difficult to be able to even paste your password. The cursor comes and goes. Second, every single time I open the app. It gives me a pop-up that push notifications are disabled. Asking me if I want to enable them. No I do not! And stop asking. Third, several times when I try to log into the app after I am finally able to get my password in, the app just closes. Someone needs to take over this app and make it better. There should be a Face ID option we should not be asked every single time to enable push notifications,, an app shouldn’t just randomly close.

  2. 1/5It never gets better

Honestly all of it is horrible - their website and this app and it makes no sense why. This is BCBS, it is one of the most profitable companies in the world, and we both cannot use the BCBS app or site resources despite not even at least being a BCN insurance offshoot. Logging in to the app or site is hit or miss, mostly miss for M O N T H S, now I can’t actually submit a claim UNLESS I go to the mobile app to save a draft, then complete it on a desktop because no attachment will save via mobile (I don’t want to use an app to get this stupid claim in it just won’t let me start one on any browser), but now the whole system fails to let me upload my superbill. Why does it never actually work? What do I do wait months instead of weeks to get my claim processed by mail? Because last time it was never actually processed. Copy and paste? No, it’ll shoot you to the bottom of a wrapped browser page and you can’t navigate any more. Heck, even the logo is somehow a very poorly cut out pixel mess that doesn’t even load appropriately. They can’t even get wrapping a basic website right or logging into their system at all. The irony is this wastes their money since BCBS has a more robust setup for other BCBS plans they refuse to utilize. What a joke

  3. 1/5Seriously, where is all my money going?

I don’t normally write negative reviews of apps, even if I don’t like them, but this one is an exception. It is so bad that I have to leave some feedback. It is clearly just a wrapper for the website but doesn’t even work as well. It’s constantly updating for no good reason. Then, when I try to login, the screen just goes haywire when I try to paste my password from my password manager. Finally, if I can even make it past the text verification, half the time the app just shows me a blank screen. There’s simply no excuse for a company making this much money to have such a bad a mobile experience. Even when I don’t want to use the website on my computer to get insurance stuff done, I still have to. edit (6 months later): still the biggest dumpster fire of an app I have ever used. Taking 20 minutes to update every time I open it is absolutely unacceptable. If I paid $400 a month for any other app and it took this amount of time to update on my very good internet connection, I would be calling for a refund and everyone’s jobs. This company needs the Luigi treatment for this abomination of software alone.

  4. 1/5Biometrics Login & Remember Me

***UPDATE***Cautiously optimistic that the backend overhaul that occurred at the end of Oct 2025 has resolved the login crashing, but the 45 day check box still apparently does nothing so you have to two-factor EVERY time here but NOT the webpage. You’re staying at 1-star until that’s fixed, but at least not crashing now so I’ll give you this positive update for those who care to read it. You have one of the worst login experiences of any app! Don’t even get me started how often it crashes, but why don’t you have biometrics so I don’t need to type my login and password every time? Saving userid so anyone can see is an option, but so insecure. Then, why not save two-factor authentication for at least a limit time on the device. You are willing to do it for 45 days on a browser which again is far less secure than an app protected by biometrics every time and would be far more accessible!!! Get your act together and stop wasting my time! And, have a mind to security after your last data breach you better have learned your lesson.

  5. 1/5not worth one star not a good look for BCBS

I am sure that anyone that works at BCBS and needs help within this app is secretly using another insurance! I do all my business on my phone and have successfully ordered deliveries and all times of the day, any day of the week at any time of the year for food service companies from large national/International vendors, small boutique vendors, local & national produce vendors and even a made to order vendor - NEVER have I had as much headaches as when using this sad excuse of an “app” from such a world wide company as BCBS! It could be that this “CareFirst” is a smaller unit in Maryland and not able to be part of the behemoth’s web management system but I doubt it. It absolutely makes no sense how utterly nonsensical, useless & unnerving this stinky mess is to use… Sadly we are tied to this “insurance” choice for one year or until the idiot that decided this one was better and more accomodating than Cigna hears enough angry users’ calls demanding better use of hard earned monthly pay for insurance. Meanwhile, what a piece of nothing is this “app.”
