  1. 5/5Opinions may differ but I’ve been with them 2 years so….

Here’s the truth. I love this app and people may have different opinions. But I appreciate the hard work the team has done to make it possible for me to create videos how I like it. I work around it and it just works great for me. You just have to try it for yourself and explore. So here’s my honest opinion…This app is truly amazing. The best part is the support team. Anytime I have a concern or question they always find a resolution. They respond pretty quick as well which always amazes me. And they’re super friendly and down to earth. They are always upgrading the features here and there. At first, it was annoying because I got used to a certain system, but I didn’t realize that they were adding features to make it easier for us so I appreciate that a lot. More options is always fun. I’ve been a loyal to them for two years now, this is the longest I’ve stayed with a subscription and it’s for a reason. It’s just a good app and team overall. Id say give it a try minimum three months.

  2. 2/5Yes they do SLOW d⭕️wn your processing after your first day.

The app works great. I was using it on my first day and exploring all the different options. I made a few videos that I started using in social media, and I was very pleased with them. But then, after the first day, I started making a video the same way I have been making the others. And all of a sudden, on working on a relatively short video compared to the ones I made before, I had a three hour processing time to wait through. So now it’s making me wait three hours to process 120 word paragraph to make a video. Just 120 words… And it keeps on going with this rate subsequently for new videos. That’s ridiculous! And there’s no way this all of a sudden changed without them designing it that way. They’re trying to get more money out of people. The bait and switch trick. I can’t believe that they’re doing this, because with this app, they’re probably getting a ton of downloads and people like crazy. Just on how good the app is alone, will make you wanna go pro and start paying for it to unlock features. They don’t need to bait and switch anybody. It’s just terrible. Absolutely disgraceful. Overtime, me being at pro level, I would probably upgrade to Max as my usage of the app increased. I was planning on making a video every day or so, if not more. But not now. It’s just not cost-effective or time effective. It’s all because of some greedy little tactic that they want to use to get more money. The only reason I’m giving them two stars is because the app is so good, but that’s all they get.

  3. 2/5Changes

I originally felt this app was a strong 4 stars out of 5 but I just went to edit something I’ve been working on for a while and noticed some changes. Basically the ability to see segments of text in that page sort of format has been done away with(?). It makes the playback laggy now. Scrolling through the words has a strong stick to them so that’s also clunky. It also feels like it messes with the timing of the audio as well. Overall, it’s a change that has impacted productivity and workflow. Before it was more satisfying. I’ve made mockups for the apps PixelCut, PicsArt, Eraser, Remini, PixelCut, Canva and Vont, for changes I thought would be beneficial. Every app fell behind except for PicsArt and InShot… the only two who made my mockups real features. And simply due to the positive feedback from those features, they actually pass my emails up the chain and make such changes. I don’t get paid from them. I simply love editing and they make that experience satisfying. I believe you guys are in your own lane, but have sharpened the technological tools when it comes to AI. Please.. revert back to the previous layout, or perhaps even make it an optional feature. Because I’m sure it may be beneficial for some and you guys likely put in a lot of effort to make such a small change. I’ll continue editing to push through the change, so if anything comes up that changes my mind, I’ll update my review.

  4. 1/5Not worth paying for.

Before I do a formal review on the App Store, I would like to describe my experience using Captions. First and foremost, I want to clarify that this was a paid subscription. The biggest issue that I had using this app was how the credits that were given to me were applied to correct AI inaccuracies. There are many times when I use the descriptive AI function where I’d give a specific command and then AI would execute the command and when the edits were applied, they were significantly different than what I’d described. So in essence, a lot of my credits were not primarily used on editing. They were used to correct the inaccuracies that AI had applied to my projects. I also did not like the experience as a new user because it does take time to understand the app, and to understand how the edits look when you’re creating content. So when content was being created, and I was being charged for each edit, I didn’t like the fact that when I did not like the edit, I still had to pay for that using my own credit. I think that the app should give people an experimental time where we get familiar with all of the functions and then at some point, we begin being charged for the AI credits and things that we do. But the AI prompt section where we are to give descriptive information to me was a little fraudulent. And that is the reason why I am canceling this app and canceling my paid subscription

  5. 1/5Terrible all around

Dissatisfying product. Unfortunately this will nickel and dime you as you create. First you pick your plan. Expensive. Second, you are given tokens for the month. Third, you create. It costs you the tokens you get each month. Not all but some per production. All that is fine. Here’s where it takes its toll on you and your wallet making it absolutely not worth the subscription. You create a video, and notice pronunciation is off with a word or two. You think, no problem, I can edit right? Yes you are right. However, even though you are not ready to download the video and use it, they have already charged you for that video. Then the edit you just did will cost you more tokens. Don’t get it right the second and third time? No problem, they will keep charging you until your monthly tokens are gone. This can happen very easy just trying to create one video. Then guess what? No problem. They can sell you more tokens. And when you reach out to customer service. They tell you this is how it works. And when you complain about the poor pronunciation of certain words that they admitted they are already aware of, not only do they not refund your membership, they won’t refund your tokens until you do a video depicting the issue is a certain format that has to be a certain length and uploaded a certain way to google drive. Ok I’ve put a lot out here. But I just believe when you pay nearly $300 for an annual subscription, I would hope the product would be better, the quality would be better and the customer service would be better. So I cancelled and never got my money back. Terrible all around.
