1. 5/5Only app that has helped me lose weight!

   This app is so easy to use! If you have the package, scanning the barcode is so fast, if you don’t, the picture method does fine. Connecting to a smart watch like an Apple or a Garmin and it adds in the active calories you burn each day and then your daily calorie intake number raises. With some updates there are glitches and changes i don’t really like, but the response time is quite good and they always have fixed the issues I have. But still- it’s great . You decide how fast you want to lose weight by following the suggested calorie intake or going lower. It also lets you track water intake and weight. It adjusts weekly or so on your goal for daily calories. I definitely recommend this app to anyone who has tried everything and failed. This app will help you lose weight if you follow it.

   I purchased this app with the expectation that using the photo feature it would be accurate or close to accurate so far. I’ve had the app for two days. I’ve used it 14 times and it’s only been accurate twice. I asked Apple twice if I could be refunded since the app did not meet my expectations and they refused saying that reason for refund was not valid. I have never left a bad review for anything. I would’ve been happy to get my $19 + refunded But since that didn’t happen, I figure I’m obligated to inform other purchasers to be advised it may not work the way they want. So the Developer responded to my review saying in essence they understood my frustration and they are updating the app. Look I asked for a refund of the $20 as the app for me is useless and a total waste of money. It’s the first time I asked Apple for a refund since 2017 and they refused. I’m glad they are working on it but I spent my money … which will not be refunded for an app that does not work. Had they refunded me I would have written this off as a bad choice but now I stuck with an app that I paid for and does not do the job. I did cancel to make certain it does not auto renew next year. It stinks that I paid for this “work in progress “ All I wanted after the first day of using it was my money back. Don’t get stuck like I did. Buy another app! Also on the App Store this developer has no contact information. They did respond and sent details but I’m not going to “beg”. My only value at this stage to be honest and warn others. Make another choice.

3. 5/5EASY!

   I got my lab work back and it showed I really needed to change my eating habits. I’ve done counted Macros before but never really the calories. This helps with everything including my water intake. The library of food doesn’t have everything but close enough I just choose the higher calorie item and it helps me feel good when I reach my goal. You can scan a a label you can type in your food. You can take a picture of it and for the most part it’s pretty accurate. And for me, I tend to kind of eat the same things throughout a week so I could just click on that item and log my food for the day. I’ve been doing it for 43 days and I’ve lost 13 pounds. And seriously I’ve tried other apps but when it comes to a food journal or logging my diet I’m lazy about it I don’t have time for it.

   I got this app because I am taking medication that causes me to gain weight. I needed a way to see exactly what I was eating in order to try to maintain my weight. Calo helps me do that. It’s easy to use with multiple ways to log your food. You can speak, search, take a picture of the barcode on the package. My favorite thing is that there is a spot where you can create meals that you have often, so if you like to eat a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, you can create that as one item which makes it easier to log. Since I’ve started this journey, I’ve never missed a day. Calo has really helped me to maintain my weight. Without Calo, I am sure this medication would have made me gain 40+ pounds. I highly recommend this app to people who want results.

5. 2/5Doesn’t meet expectations!

   Honestly, I paid for the subscription because I liked the ability to take a picture of my food without having to type out everything or search for each item individually. Unfortunately, that was before I realized how poor the results of the pictures are and how awful the search results functionality is. Searching for Bunny white bread or Quest protein bar requires you to manually scroll through 20-30 results, no matter how much detail you put in to find what you’re trying to enter. It’s like you have to be smart enough to know exactly how they labeled it to find it (and most of the time it doesn’t make a lot of sense). I’ve found that I will do anything possible to use the barcode instead or use a different app to put in my homemade recipes to enter the calories, fat, protein and carbs in this app. Appreciate the idea behind the app but it’s not there yet. Wish I could get my money back and chose a different app.
