1. 1/5Waste of Space & Time

   If you were looking for a no cost recorder - do NOT bother downloading this app. While it is free to download - you are not given any time at all to record not even a minute portion of a single call. After download, you are directed to immediately purchase time in order to begin recording. Not to mention, the interface is about as beta - bland and boring as it gets (no options - no settings - no nothing). Also, in order to use it, you must place a call from the app itself. Therefore, no incoming calls or calls placed via the "phone" app already in place may be recorded. Save yourself the time and disappointment and choose another app.

   I have struggled with so many garbage call recording apps over the last 2 years. But this one is definitely the best one I've used. Here's why: (1) it is secure and stores recordings only on your device. DO NOT trust any recording app that involves merging your recorded call with a centralized call that's mediated by the company's server, especially if you care about the security of your data. (2) there is no decent, free app to record calls but his one is the best balance of cheap and high quality. I urge you not to trust the ones that claim to be totally free. This one doesn't charge you monthly, you just purchase what you need for a few dollars at a time. I have to conduct a few hours worth of interviews every 2-3 months and so I buy $10-15 in credits to accommodate. (3) You can export the recordings easily by email or Airdrop, which many of the other apps seriously struggle with for some reason (4) Crucially (because I need my interviews to be transcribable) the audio quality of the recordings is by far the highest of all the 6 or 7 apps I assessed.

3. 3/5Okay, but seemingly the only okay option

   This app only allows you to record outgoing calls, and calls using the app are quieter than using just the phone and it is harder to hear the caller and for them to hear you. Also, charges are per minute for phone calls. US calls are $0.10 / minute. Which is annoying. However, this is the only app I could find that stores the recordings locally on my phone. All the other apps featured the "call merge" technique and recorded your call remotely and doesn't seem to be a secure way to record conversations I might want to.

4. 4/5Very Handy!

   I've used the app quite a bit over the past 2 years to collect evidence for a lawsuit and it's been used to attain key pieces of the entire case. Very happy so far with only one small issue and that is sometimes the voices aren’t loud enough while actually using the app but they can be heard a little better after the recording is completed but that’s not always helpful when you can’t hear clearly while making the recording. This seems to be worse with the newest updates from my experience but overall the app works pretty good until the latest update. Other than the latest update though I’d give the app 4 stars. If it were clear all the time it would be 5.

   This app! Honestly, it has aided in my winning multiple business disputes/appeals. Unfortunately, often legal&business disputes end in favor of the business with their word against ours. And most companies now have a message stating they MAY record calls for accuracy purposes. So-it shouldn’t be a problem if we have a copy of that same recording, right?Well, you might be surprised. Recently, I read negative reviews about a loan company who was continually&unfairly taking legal action and penalty money from clients, after dishonestly blaming the client for non-compliance or non-submission of requested time-sensitive paperwork. I had 60 days to complete their process&my dealings with an assigned executive who was not returning my phone calls, made me suspicious that I was about to be their next victim. Thankfully, I thought to use the app to call the company& and ask that a general unassigned rep look at my file and list the documents there, to make sure they had gotten everything I sent. This rep obliged because he was unaware of what I was suspecting. Sure enough, a week later I received a letter stating that further collection action was being taken against me because I had failed to submit “requested documents.” I first called and asked that they play “their recording” of where a rep had verified that all necessary documents had been received. Not surprisingly, they stated that phone call had not been recorded. So...much to corporate surprise, I played MY recording where every requested document was listed as being received. Needless to say, collection activity stopped and I was refunded my large penalty. A similar situation happened when I was charged $3000 for a medication denied by my health insurance company, after being verbally promised coverage. Again, their recorded call of that promise, could not be produced. But I could sure produce mine. And I did! I won my appeal because of that recording and they took advantage of one less victim. Guys, we have to protect ourselves and this app has helped me do that!
