1. 5/5I love this website but it doesn’t love me

   When I first wanted to make an account, it took me three weeks. I tried every way possible and it finally took me going to a computer (couldn’t use my phone) to make an account. Yes, you can use the app without an account but I wanted to bookmark my favorite things. I’ve never commented, never posted so I don’t think I’ve been blocked or sm but now, I CAN’T LOG IN. I’ve been logged out and my assumption was to reset my password, right? Well, it won’t send the email, and when I went to the FAQ and clicked the link as to why I didn't get the email, it just redirected me to the top. I want to be a member but I don’t want to fight every step of the way. Please, PLEASE make it easier for people to sign in and make accounts, etc. I like the quizzes I like the posts but it obviously doesn’t like me. Deleting the app, if I can’t log in then why bother?

2. 2/5App has frequent bugs, content has gone downhill

   Buzzfeed has become full of overused and boring content and more recently, bad faith journalism and flat-out misinformation. The articles are lazy, completely under-researched, biased, poorly written, and often hardly readable. I used to really like Buzzfeed but the content has decreased in quality and all of their gift guides and shopping articles just recycle the same 20-or-so products. The quizzes are broken a lot of the time and app crashes often and logs me out at least a few times a week for no reason. I still like some of the content, but overall I’m very disappointed in way Buzzfeed has turned into. Update: some bugs have been fixed, but overall, not a really any noticeable improvement. Also, with the newest update, they’ve completely changed the formatting and layout of the app which is truly unnecessary and annoying. The top and bottom tool bars on the screen have swapped and some features have been removed entirely. There was no issue with how it was formatted before. Update II: Now the homepage is no longer in chronological order so I see the same days or weeks old articles at the very top instead of the most recent ones. It’s frustrating because I’ve already read/seen most of the things that are being featured. I wish it would go back to being chronological.

   Ok so the app's great and all and I would love to give it five stars but I can’t. You really really need to work on the way that you have people make accounts. I downloaded the app and I liked it. I saw some stuff I wanted to bookmark but needed an account. Ok. Cool. So I go to the face in the corner and can I just say it doesn’t even give me the freaking option to make an account. Alright whatever I’ll just go on the handy dandy web. So I went to buzzfeed’s website and it tells me how to make an account. First of all it’s not even up to date as it says “don’t use Facebook to sign up” but now there’s google and twitter that can be used as well and it doesn’t specify if those are ok to use. Anyway I go ahead and sign up with google and then after that it just closed the sign up page. So I clicked the link that was on the website again and it brought me to the same sign up page. So before I tried to sign up again I went to check my email and see if it sent me a verification link. Nothing. So I went back to the sign up website to make an account and instead of signing up with google I used my email. But of course it took my attempt to sign up half way. It took the email, but didn’t set up the account. So when I tried to use my email it said the email had already been used. So now I have no way of making an account unless I make a second email which I’m not doing. Also it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to...I dunno...maybe put a way to make an account IN THE APP LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE!? Let’s not forget I had to go on the stupid unorganized website to make an account that can’t be made. Fix the freaking problem please and thank you. Also just so you know if you look at other reviews I’m not the only one with account issues.

4. 3/5Get Me Out of This Rabbit Hole!

   So, in almost every case, I read a BuzzFeed article all the way to the end, which Ben I look at the “Related” articles right below. Then I open one of those articles, read it to the end, choose another “Related” article, and continue to repeat the cycle until I’ve read every possible “Related” story. HERE IS THE PROBLEM: Now that I am done reading about XYZ, I want to go back to the BuzzFeed Homepage and pick up where I left off. The only way to do that is to hit the BACK arrow until you reach the Homepage. Depending on the Rabbit Hole I’ve fallen into, I could be twenty or thirty articles deep, and I don’t feel like hitting the BACK button a ridiculous amount of times. IT IS UNNECESSARY. If I need to hit BACK a hundred times or if I need to close out of the app and reopen it just to get back to the homepage, 9 times out of 10, once I close the BuzzFeed app - I just move onto a different app. Can you please just put a “BuzzFeed” Banner or Link at the top OR bottom of every article, so no matter what Rabbit Hole I fall into, I’ll always have an express way to get back home. Honestly, it’s 2025 and this should be common sense.

5. 2/5Experience varies

   It had a decent amount of news on it (skip the political news because most of the time it’s facts are not accurate and are skewed to favor buzzfeed’s own views), and it does allow you to ask questions and have answers to things you are curious about, but too scared to ask. However, minus one star because you can’t delete comments on there and that can get you into serious arguments if one person misinterprets you. When you don’t want to hear negative things, you really wish you could delete comments, especially when some of them are personal answers to posts asking about information on sensitive subjects. Also minus another star because they remake a lot of old posts and make them seem “new” when it’s really not. That gets old really quickly. Minus a third star because a lot of posts aren’t about free speech. At least, not anymore. Now they make it to where if you have a different opinion, you will get SCREWED by buzzfeed. They spend a lot more time trashing different types of people instead of being uplifting like back then. I find buzzfeed is a much more negative environment now, and honestly don’t let yourself down. If you need questions answered or need an open conversation without feeling judged, go to tumbler. That community may be strange, but the people on there truly are open minded and kind and uplifting. Your experience really varies on different posts, some posts people are very supporting and loving and share stories, but that’s far too few, most posts people will say the most nasty things to you for having a different view or suggestion (which is why having a blocking or deleting comments action would be very helpful to make a better environment). After having the buzzfeed app for about four years now, I’m deleting it today because it’s just that poor now.
