4/5Great app for remembering
I guess i am in the recent minority, this app works great. I send myself notes, pictures, voice recordings and have 3 different emails setup - work, home 1, and home 2. Not sure what the one reviewer was talking about when they said you cannot change the default email. I did. My work emails automatically get flagged so they go directly on my To Do list. My home ones - Gmail and Fastmail for family and personal respectively - are easily “snoozed” for later reminders. Works great for those looking for a digital inbox for collecting thoughts, tasks, somedays, and ideas in the GTD methodology. Mind Like Water is easy with this app. Thanks for making it. If you do GTD, get this app.

5/5Game-changing!
I’ve been experimenting for months trying to find a good system for collecting the loose thoughts that pop into my head, with little success. I had settled for a while on just keeping a note on my phone where i jotted all of them down, but i only ever thought to open that note when i was adding something to it (and then would see all the miscellaneous loose ends i hadn’t yet resolved, which was stressful to say the least). I heard about Braintoss on David Allen’s episode of the Tim Ferriss Show, and downloaded it in a quiet hope that it would be the answer to my organisational prayers. Lo and behold, it’s been exactly that! The app has an appealing minimalist interface and is super easy/quick to use, which is a must for any app of this type. I toss thoughts into it the moment they arise and then immediately let go of them from my mind, knowing that they’ll be waiting and ready for processing when i do my email batching the following day. Braintoss has cleared up so much clutter from my brain and from my life, and for that it’s been well worth the price of admission! Thank you Braintoss 😄

5/5Updated -Lives in my dock as perfect capture tool
UPDATE - I initially left a negative review for this app as it ceased functioning less than two days after purchase. However, that appears to have been a small glitch and it resumed working the next day and has had zero problems since then and does precisely what it promises to do. This is a simple app and therein lies its beauty. It literally does one thing - capture your thoughts and get them out of your head and into your trusted system. I generally use it for text though it does pictures and voice as well. It now lives in my dock and I use it 12-15x each day. What I really like is that you simply use it then get on with your life - you could open an app like Todoist (which syncs with it perfectly) but then you would be sorting and filtering and potentially distracted. This is the equivalent of a notecard that you jot things down on that will never get lost and will be sitting in your email when you want to find it. Updating to five stars (Nov 2020).

5/5K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple, Stupid!
The best thing about and number one appeal of this app is its simplicity. It has one function, to quickly capture ideas and pictures and send them to an email address. I for one am glad it isn’t loaded down with untested and unreliable features, and instead does what it does quickly and dependably. IF you were to venture to add another feature, I would hope for it to be document capture, ie converting a snap to PDF before sending. But if you only kept doing what you were doing and kept this app reliable and speedy, I’d be perfectly satisfied with that as well.

5/5Best app purchase I’ve ever made
I’ve been using Braintoss for 6 years and it’s the best app purchase I’ve ever made. I use it every day, not only for the “to-do list” sort of things, but also for creative ideas. I’m a fiction writer and sometimes I’ll have a big idea about my story when I’m jogging or driving or whatever, and I’ll immediately and easily capture it in Braintoss. This is so much better than other apps like Notes because Braintoss sends an email to my inbox that automatically gets flagged so I can’t possibly miss it.

Onboarding Why am I being asked for camera, microphone, and location permission again? v10 changes how voice recognition and sending are wired during onboarding, so the app may ask again for Camera, Microphone, and Location access. Privacy details are on the Braintoss website. Basic use What changed on the main capture screen? The main screen starts in typing mode. Voice and photo open from the same screen (not three separate entry choices). Typed text can ship in one toss as typed text + voice or typed text + photo (separate paths; not “voice + photo” as one combined capture from this screen). Clipboard paste adds text and supported image attachments. What changed in the photo flow? Zoom is two-finger pinch (replacing the previous zoom control pattern). The flash toggle was removed. Tap Send sends immediately; long-press Send opens the send review bar (To, prefix, subject, message body). What changed in the voice flow? Recording can still complete if you are interrupted by a phone call. Long-press Send opens the same send review bar. Maximum recording duration is configurable in Settings; longer recordings increase the chance transcription or sending hits limits. What changed for Share and Apple Watch? Default Quick mode: one action sends to the default destination. Set Advanced for Share and/or Watch in Settings to review or change destination/message details per item. What changed when sending, sharing, History, and Settings? Sends can stay pending and retry automatically; the Home Screen badge waits through normal auto-retry windows; Advanced Settings → Pending queue lists pending work. Share-in is capture-first (stored first, then background delivery); large media can take longer than text. Long-press Send and History → Edit share one send review bar; Resend duplicates immediately, Edit sends a revised new item. Settings are reorganized; Your Braintoss groups Send to and Message Style. Advanced use What changed under the hood? v10 replaces the prior iOS codebase and prior backend send path. The send service focuses on mail delivery; email compilation and related shaping run on the device. Unique email address (classic) and webhooks The classic unique email address feature is not included in v10. Webhook destinations (via Endpoints) deliver into systems that accept inbound webhooks (task managers and similar). For “unique inbox” style routing, some setups use automation services (Zapier, IFTTT, Make) with email and/or webhooks, depending on destination support. Photo/voice email output Subject/body rules were updated for typed, voice, photo, URL, and file captures. Invitation-like photos can attach .ics when date/time extraction is reliable. .vcf contact cards attach only when the image is classified as a business card and contact details are detected. Support and networks Optional Debug Mode can add send context to support emails you send; logs stay on-device unless you copy/share them. On managed Wi‑Fi, IT may need to allow send.braintoss.app and, if used, the fallback run.app hostname. Footnote: Why there is no v9 v10 is a complete remake of the code and a replacement of the backend. After many years without a major update, versioning starts at 10 and v9 is intentionally skipped as a humble signal that a major refresh was due.

Apple Watch • Clearer status after you send — Saved until your iPhone has really emailed the note, then Sent. • Better handoff from Watch to iPhone, including when your phone was locked. • If a note gets stuck, we’ll let you know on your Watch or iPhone so nothing is lost silently. Notifications • Braintoss stays quiet when everything works — a small vibration and on-screen confirmation is enough. • You only get a lock-screen alert when something needs your attention: “Couldn’t send yet. Open the app.” • The home-screen badge now counts captures that are stuck, not ones still sending in the background. Reliability • Fixes and improvements for sending from the main app, Share sheet, and Apple Watch.

If you are in another app on your phone and you run into something interesting or a reminder for a task you can then use the share function (the square box with an arrow going up) to share that item with Braintoss and it will be sent to your inbox without leaving the other app. You can also start Braintoss in the same mode every time you open it. We noticed many users have a favourite mode they use most of the time (note or speech). This eliminates one more click (and every click less is a great improvement in our opinion :) Are you capturing a document? Simply tap the document icon at the top left of the image capture and we will try apply image-to-text for that receipt or note. You will then receive the text in your email both as text and as a PDF attachment. This also helps searching for the note at a later time. Is the document a business card, then use the vCARD button to receive a digital business card with the email. And much worth mentioning, the server side settings can change the format of the email you receive. This may help when sending your braintosses to systems like ToDo managers or accounting tools. To receive an instruction and a list of commands simply send a text note with the word Settings to yourself. We hope you enjoy the new features look forward to hearing your suggestions how we can further improve Braintoss. Happy Braintossing ;-)
