4/5The best audiobook app on iPhone
Edit: I have switched to BookPlayer, despite it’s objectively worse interface, because it offers an Apple Watch app. If you don’t need that functionality, this is still the one to go with. Original review: I’ve been using this app for about three years now. Prior to this app I tried everything under the sun, from syncing books over via iTunes to a variety of other apps. This is the only app that lets me use the standard iOS document interface to load files, while offering a great audiobook listening experience. I also appreciate the tasteful design and nice features for managing things like cover images. If you have a reason to listen to any audio files in an audiobook style interface this is the app to use. (Don’t forget that your public library probably has tons of great audiobooks on CD! It’s easy to rip them and add them to this app!)

4/5The audiobook app I have been looking for
With the Windows version of iTunes becoming more and more problematic to use under modern operating systems and the latest versions of iOS, I found myself very frustrated trying to continue to use it in order to manage the audiobooks on my iPhone 13. Most of the time it would fail to finish syncing and was just a general pain to use. With Bound, all I do is copy my audiobooks into OneDrive, where I have plenty of storage available in the cloud, configure the app to connect to OneDrive, which only takes a couple of seconds if OneDrive is already set up on your device, and within a few seconds, I can copy the audiobook down into the Bound application. So far the app has played everything I’ve thrown at it, and I find it very much worth whatever it was that I paid for it months ago when I purchased it. Highly recommended.

I managed to get several audio books into my iPhone 14. I used iTunes once and drop box one time. Both were hard. Not user friendly and one audio book app found one and a completely different audiobook found the other. Neither found both. To make matters worse I couldn’t remember exactly how I did it. It seemed like I got lucky. I was dreading having to do it again. Neither had the book cover. so I was trying different audiobook apps and came across bound. One review said it works solidly every time. So I paid four dollars and gave it a try. Wow! I can now bypass iTunes completely. All I have to do is use the web uploading page. So I open that page on my computer and I open that same page in the Bound app and suddenly it’s so simple for me to get books into my phone! I was pleasantly surprised that the book covers magically appear. I’m not sure that will always happen but so far I put about 10 books into my iPhone and the cover came with each one. I don’t usually rave about apps but this one is really extra helpful. I love this app highly recommend.

5/5So long, BookPlayer
I’ve been happily using BookPlayer for years. Sadly, they’ve recently started pushing a subscription service every time I open the app which requires me to close and reopen the app each time. I decided it was time to shop around for another way to play my books. This app does not have all of the features of BookPlayer; I especially miss being able to organize my books into folders. However, it functions very smoothly. It’s simple and does everything you’d want a book player to do, including a sleep timer, a rudimentary but functional bookmarking feature, and the ability to adjust the playback speed of the book. Best of all, I was able to buy the app outright (which I’m very willing to do!) without having to pay a subscription fee (which I am not willing to do). Thank you, Bound!

5/5My fav audiobook app
Love using the app although I wish there was some quality of life improvements. 1. A watch app to control the app. 2. Force focus of the audio over other apps, it’s annoying that Reddit will pause other apps even if you have sound muted in Reddit, Audible is able to keep playing while scrolling Reddit. 3. I wish Bound was remembered more when I hit play awhile after playing, I realize if I open another app and play a video or something the phone doesn’t know to play Bound again but if it’s just a matter of time idle it should start back up. 4. I wish there was a widget or something I could access and control the app on my home screen.
