1. 3/5Great potential but…

   This app is really great! I love nearly everything about it. It’s amazing to be able to connect with a random person around the world, learn about peoples cultures, have them teach you their language, tell you what their life is like, and of course, their interests and hobbies. I’ve made so many great friends with this app. However… I feel like the guidelines are a bit too strict and don’t really allow people to be able to express themselves very freely. Things that go against the rules include words of endearment such as “honey” or “dear” (I don’t call people this but I saw these examples in the rules). It’s also technically against the guidelines to compliment someone. Obviously trading inappropriate messages or photos isn’t allowed, and this is understandable. You also can’t trade more prominent information to connect with someone long term. For example, you aren’t allowed share your Instagram, Facebook etc, or your phone number with people. I feel like this app is great in concept, but the vague and kind of strict guidelines don’t really allow for or encourage open conversation or long term meaningful connections. Overall I recommend it, but I feel like the emphasis of the app is really to just kill time with strangers for a few minutes rather than make lifelong friends.

   I’m Shayna. I highly recommend this app. Developer very quick to respond to a question. He really does care about the app and the people using it. No problems of any kind. You can control if you want just men or just women or both. It’s fun and interesting. It’s fair with the bottles. If you don’t get enough bottles - it’s because people aren’t wanting to be your friend, for one reason or another. It’s not the apps fault. Not many people want to be my friend because I like to read and write poetry. I do have friends, though. You can easily delete your own account if you’re not satisfied for any reason. Wouldn’t hurt to try it out.

   I like the Bottled - Message in a bottle app. I have had a great experience using the platform. The concept is both unique and charming. It allows users to send messages in virtual bottles to people around the world. The app is user-friendly and makes it easy to create and customize your message before sending it off to the sea of recipients. What I loved most was the element of surprise. You receive messages from other users which adds a sense of connection and adventure. The interface is visually attractive with beautiful simple graphics that add to the overall experience. Plus you have the option to explore messages based on location which adds an engaging twist. I also like the diary feature which allows users to post passages to the community and friends for them to like and comment on. I highly recommend the app for people looking to make connections from around the world.

4. 1/5Avoid if you’re trying to find actual friends

   I know a lot of the penpal apps are teeming with troublesome people, but if it wasn’t for creepy horny weird dudes, you wouldn’t receive ANY bottles from anyone at all. There’s also a weird glitch after blocking someone that their bottle doesn’t disappear from your queue. It just sits there and forces you to pass it on to someone else. Like, it isn’t anything report-worthy but it’s super offputting and creepy and I don’t wanna see it again, let alone pass it on to some other stranger. I get it, weird dudes are gonna flood every corner of the internet from now until the end of time, but if you have a system that makes you pick “friend, best friend, or relationship,” in terms of how you appear on the app, there needs to be some sort of adherence to those options. Let the friends-only users genuinely find only friends and not be bombarded with people wanting dates or sex.

5. 1/5WORST APP EVER 🚩🚩

   If I could give it negative stars I would. First of all, I just want to warn you all that this is basically a time pass app. There’s very few people who are genuine and want a long lasting friendship. Second, the moderators here are the worst! I wrote one comment in the world island which I admit was vulgar, but was by no means a threat to anyone. I was simply answering a question someone had made in their post. Yet, when I tried to point this out to the bottled team they didn’t even write back saying if or when they’ll unblock me so I can see posts in the world island again. My advice would be to try and avoid making too many comments cuz then you could get blocked over something so minor, while some people post literal death threats or half naked pics, or bully in some form, yet when you report them nothing happens to them. I suspect the moderators are liberal and biased and just make decisions based on personal feelings. It does appear to be a French app after all…anyway, just a warning to those considering trying this app. Cheers.
