  1. 5/5One of My Favorite Apps

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for an app before but Bopdrop definitely deserves one. This app is genuinely so fun. It’s so authentic and interactive! I love getting to share songs I love with the world AND getting to see what other people listen to as well. This recent update is so cool, too. Sharing my favorite artists and my top 3 current favorite songs?! It’s all I was hoping for in the update. I’ve met so many sweet people on this app and I love seeing when users add a song I post to their playlist! Music means so much to me so this app is truly something that I look forward to using every day. Also, the concept of “Bopdrop Parties” is so smart! Since users typically get to post one song per day, it is such a reward when the creators turn on Party Mode and users can post an unlimited amounts of songs for a certain amount of time. Bopdrop is definitely one of my favorite apps and downloaded it was the best decision I’ve made. I will never be able to thank the creators enough!

  2. 3/5Love it, but it needs some improvements

TLDR: I definitely recommend the app, but it has some freezing issues, and the posting and explore system is lackluster and needs improvements for something boasting to be the best way to find new songs. First of all, I’ve already set found about 10-20 songs I’ve loved thanks to this app, so for all those considering getting it, I say definitely do. However, I have some issues with the posting limit and the performance. Starting with performance, my app freezes consistently when I’m trying to do anything after a song starts up from the feed/explore pages. Writing a comment, switching tabs, or even swiping up and down all get froze when a new song preview plays. This gets kinda annoying really quickly. Also, why do you forcefully teleport me back up to the song that just started auto playing after I’ve swiped down like 10-20 songs when I can just click the preview bar at the bottom and get there instantly anyways. Then with the posting system, it’s very bare bones which I guess can be nice but the lack of tags and the lack of a filtered search section to find songs for a specific genre is kind of annoying in an app that boasts being one of the best ways to find new music I would love. I shouldn’t have to follow random people to get that. Then, the only posting once a day is kind of infuriating. At least include a scheduling system so you can schedule a song to auto post tomorrow if you’re only letting me post once a day. OR, let us post more than once. 5 times, he’ll even 3 times would be nice, I’m not asking for a complete limit removal because I’m sure it’s there for some reason, but anything better than once a day. That’s about all my complaints honestly.

  3. 4/5Bring this back!!!!

I genuinely love this apps uniqueness, posting songs to followers and getting to explore new genres is amazing! I've had a lovely time being on the app for about a year now, but something that was updated then taken away has made me not want to post as much. The creators brought in an update once where you had the option to pick what portion of the song your followers would hear, instead of an already set clip. I loved this update as I could finally post references to instrumentation or specific lyrics! It opened up a whole new avenue for posting, and at least twice now songs I have posted the 30 second clip starts at the very beginning. The issue being if a song has a long intro. There goes a waste of a post and no one got to hear the amazing tune being showcased! I've made comments before on my account and even captions about this issue, I really thought that song portion selection option was a great and much needed improvement to the app. If it's brought back I'd say Bopdrop would be @ 5 stars. The posting to 1 song a day (now 2 which is nice) is a creative platform for music lovers to share more easily than say random internet forums.

  4. 4/5Great App, Even Better Potential

There is certainly a space for a music-based social media app, and Bopdrop fills that niche quite well. The general layout and UX is intuitive and pleasant, profiles contain the perfect amount of info (not too much, not too little), and the two-songs-per-day limit isn’t too restrictive. As social media, this app is a fantastic way to connect with friends through music. My main suggestion is to increase the viability of Bopdrop as a music discovery app. Currently, the only way I have found to discover new music are the four tabs at the top of the home page, “for you” being the one that has worked best for me. However, most of the “personalized” recommendations really aren’t songs that I like, so it’s hard to find any profiles that have similar music taste. Two ways this could be fixed: 1) upgrade the recommendation algorithm and/or 2) allow users to search for posts by song and artist. Likely, the latter would be easier, and it would allow users to find other people who have posted the same songs/artists to their profile. Overall, really good app— could see it becoming the next big thing.

  5. 4/5Overall Great :)

I’ve always loved sharing music and I always post stories on Instagram of music I’m listening to, the concept of this app is just so amazing! You get to choose genres of music and that curates your explore page so that you see similar music from people who’ve chosen similar genre(s). I know some people have an issue with not being able to pick more than three, I dont mind but I think it would be nice if there was a range of specific genres. One thing I really wish would be different is the limited post, I don’t know if that plays an important role in the explore page but I think it would be awesome to post more music, perhaps keep a limit but make it three posts per day? Another thing that would seem cool would to have the ability to choose a specific part of the song to preview for listeners. It’s the perfect opportunity to show new listeners the already listeners’ favorite part which would maybe encourage the newbie to add the song to their “bopdrop” playlist. The add feature is the absolute cherry on top, so smart to include that and to make music discovery efficient. I dont know if it’s just my phone or what but I somewhat dislike the way the explore page scrolls back up a bit when I press the home button on the bottom left. I know some users would enjoy being able to post a song with its preview. I’m assuming some songs can be posted but the play feature isn’t included, yeah the whole “expand the song library” thing. I haven’t quite ran into that issue just yet but I’m hoping this is being worked on. I love the apps algorithm and the community so far, everyone appreciates everyone and quickly befriends each other, everyone’s song gets noticed on the explore. This app is definitely revolutionary and I’m excited I was fortunate enough to be informed about it. I’m eager to see what becomes of this app, truly. :)
