1. 5/5User friendly & amazing options

   I joined the site 4 days ago and am completely blown away by the amazing guys I’ve met matched with so far. I almost felt like I needed to pause my profile for a minute just to not get overwhelmed with the amount of options I’ve had with attractive professional black men. Ladies I’m highly recommending this app to you. I’m based in ATL but I travel for work and I’ve met a general surgeon, a cybersecurity global director, an ER nurse, a political consultant, and a computer scientist all in 4 days. All attractive ( in my eyes), all willing to FaceTime the same day we connected, and all willing to do a meet and greet. Pay the upgrade so you can message freely and access the profiles that are verified professionals. Make sure you are showing not just your professional side but your fun side as well. There are women on this site asking guys for $50 for gas just to go on a date so the guys are exhausted with the scammers and they are truly looking for real quality women. If that’s you then I highly recommend this site to you sis. Fellas I’m a civil engineer so there are women who won’t waste your time you just have to weed them out. 2. 5/5The app is absolutely great and needed

   First of all, I will start by saying that I am a Black women who has used a lot of dating apps such as Tinder, Hinge, Bumble etc and my experience has been terrible on those apps. I received disrespectful messages from men who were only looking for a hook up. Finding BlackGentry changed my feelings on dating apps and it is currently the only dating app I use. I saw an ad on IG and I follow their page and I have been in touch with customer service as I initially needed help and they were helpful and truly are passionate about creating an app for us and by us. Since joining I have seen a lot of improvements in the quality of men on the app as well as the stability of the app. I have also met decent men on the app over the past year. One of which I dated for a while. It ended so I came back and I am suprised at all the new features. I absolutely love the restaurants feature and I see there is now a lot of members. I literally got 50 likes my first day on the app from DECENT black men. Great Job BlackGentry. We truly need to support apps and company’s that make products for us by us and this company is an example of one doing things right and for the right reason.

3. 5/5Not what you’d expect

   Okay so to begin with your profile has to be approved which according to the app is a manual process. That’s a green flag. Once mine got approved I filled out my profile which really didn’t take a long time and it felt like I was able to give very relevant info about myself. But here’s the part that isn’t what you’d expect, I haven’t gotten a single like or match in the few hours I’ve had my profile. Of course you might ask why I’m giving a 5 star review if I haven’t made any matches or gotten any likes. But here’s the thing, I see this as a positive because it means there aren’t fake accounts or bot accounts spamming new users to drive up engagement or encouraging you to upgrade to a premium profile. I believe when someone does finally like my profile rather it’s a match or not it will be a genuine person genuinely interested in talking with me. Disclaimer: I’m not black and while it doesn’t say it’s meant just for the black community I do believe this might be why I haven’t gotten any likes yet because these women are seeking black men. That’s okay, it’s their choice and I respect it.

4. 1/5DELETED MY ACCOUNT TODAY.

   I think this app is area based, and where you’re based “located” will dictate what matches and offerings you get. So if you’re in a place where the men aren’t offering much , then what is available on the app will be men who aren’t up to your standards. I’ve noticed that all the reviews good or bad are years old and the last review that was posted march of 2024 is the review I took advice from I paid for the app. I just believe that Louisiana has terrible men and so that’s what you see no real professionals and everybody wants something casual, I did everything the person said do I paid I added my LinkedIn. I did it all my pictures were amazing I’m a very attractive, young lady. I got matches. They were not quality matches to me or the men that were interested in me I wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole. The app is very glitchy. I seem to notice that all apps that are for people of color tend to be very glitchy. I had to login , log out , login, log out , when setting my profile up. On the professional side, it would show me two profiles and then say I needed to reset my settings, but if my settings are set to 100 years old and 500 miles away, which are both the oldest and longest distance you can set it to then maybe it’s not me, Maybe it’s the app The best part about the app was the deletion of my account. It took all of five seconds now how long it floats I don’t know, but it automatically logged me out. Don’t give up on this app I do believe there’s some real potential here, I just think for my location it’s not for me.

5. 2/5It’s giving RIFF RAFF sorry!

   First of all, something is off if my profile isn’t even finished (just images, literally no personality traits or prompts filled out yet) and I’m already getting over 100 likes within a day. So when I saw my phone was already blowing up from a 25% complete profile, it actually made me sad because that means there are a LOT of active users but not a lot of quality ones. I got overwhelmed by the amount of likes coming in literally every other minute, so I waited until today to sort through them. I already have my filters set by the way (within 10 mi, under age 30 because I’m young as well, etc.), but that doesn’t seem to stop profiles that don’t meet this criteria from clogging the likes. As I’m going through the likes, I’m seeing 40 year olds proudly admitting to being active gang members, people saying they can’t drive “right now but time’s almost up,” a lot of college dropouts, and a lot of other yellow and red flags. Look, I really recognize that people can have a wide-range of experiences and that doesn’t mean they’re not financially stable or lacking ambition — but I am a Black woman with a bachelors degree from an Ivy, and the way this app was marketed there shouldn’t be such an abundance of people who kind of don’t do anything at all. I also feel like “traditionally successful” BW were targeted by this app’s marketing so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a lot of other high-achieving women on this app just incubating for no reason. I almost feel embarrassed having my profile out on this database. I’m giving two stars because I have yet to have a decent conversation with anyone but I’m willing to see if it’s possible.
