1. 2/5Okay for most things but not mobile deposit

   The app is an improvement overall from the first several years that it's been available. More recently it's suffered from kitchen sink syndrome, which can make it difficult to find something specific, or even confirm that a item sought is even available in the app. Mobile deposit continues to be hit and miss. After a good run for the past couple years or so, I am again having problems getting it to accept my back images. Since I had already indicated that they were for mobile deposit only, I probably have no recourse. In short, it's less risky to take your checks to a branch or a deposit ATM. I will never trust the app again. Fool me once... Another item is that security codes on the app return an error when you attempt to authenticate on the web. This is huge because SMS authentication is a major security risk. However, thanks to this flaw, I can't get away from SMS.

2. 3/5Used to be great

   I feel like BCU has gone downhill since they made the decision to change to this new banking app, which I don't even hate. That said, a couple of things could make it better. Why do we not have the ability to request a credit limit increase without calling? It's 2025, we want to submit a request online, not spend 30 minutes on the phone. Second, many people these days use aggregators for convenience or budgeting and when you use one like let's say YNAB, Copilot, Monarch, etc. The pending transactions show as payments instead of pending charges because BCU shows it as a negative number in pending transactions. It's been this ways for way too long, can you please fix that? Those are small meaningful improvements that would make this better for everyone.

   The app is great, I love using it. The only thing I wish was different was on some transactions it only gives a town or something it doesn't list the store it was used so sometimes it's difficult to remember transactions you've made. If the description could be better it would be easier to remember the locations you used your card that way you could know if someone stole your card number or something if someone had used it because you could see a charge for a certain store in a certain town or something. It would be protection for people so they could know faster if they were hacked by identity thieves or something if the descriptions were more detailed. Also it’d be great to have deposits show as pending so you know what will be going into your account before it goes in.

4. 5/5Best Credit Union Ever

   I have been doing my banking with BCU for 20 years now. I have always had a wonderful experience. They have helped us with our everyday banking needs to our boat loan and car loans as well as helping our children with their banking needs. We have been able to do our CD’s, IRA’s, saving accounts and Rainy Day accounts with them as well. We also have our business account with BCU. The staff is has always been a great help to us in helping us get our needs met, as well as being kind and mindful each time we have come in. As our life has changed our needs have also, they have been able to accommodate us every time. I have had a wonderful experience at each branch I have gone to from Vernon Hills to Gurnee as well as Round Lake where I work. It has been a huge help to be at work and go down the hall and be able to bank, from putting money in, to asking questions and getting answers on new products we would like to use. I am very grateful for the presence of BCU. Thank you for being here and a huge part of my life.

   I was able to successfully log into the app the first time. It has a lot of useful resources. There is an issue that there is no back option if you tap into the travel screen. My main issue is that the second time I logged in I’m prompted with the contact info screen immediately with a continue button. Upon selecting continue it refreshes with a red alert that estatement disclosure acceptance is required, however there is no option for this. So I’m stuck unable to use the app at all. If I delete it and reinstall I can use the app normally for the first login but on the next session I am hit with the same issue. I attempted to use the email help in the app but that responded with an email that it’s no longer used to help members. Until I can use the app it’s a 1 Star for me.
