1. 2/5Can’t log in.

   I’ve been using the Barnes & Noble app for a little less than a year and have had no trouble until now. For the past week I’ve been going in and out of the app to see when my book will be delivered because it’s late (no big deal, just want to check), and last night when I went to go look, it had logged me out. I kept trying to sign in and when I hit continue, it just loads and loads and loads. I thought it was an issue with my phone so I powered off my phone and let it sit for a few minutes and powered it back on to try again. I tried a few more times, and again, it just kept loading. This morning I decided to try again and it still wouldn’t work. This time, I deleted the app and reinstalled it to see if that would make any difference, and you guessed it, no. I’m very frustrated because I’ve had no issues with the app until now and all I want to do is track my book and now I have no way of doing that. Please fix this.

2. 4/5I like the app

   Overall, I’ve had a positive experience with the Barnes and Noble app. There were some issues when I first downloaded the app (I would have to sign in every time I opened the app, the screen would freeze, or I’d get an infinite loading error), but since their most recent update everything has been running smoothly, and all of these problems have been rectified (for me at least). I like being able to compare prices, being able to browse books, see what’s popular or coming soon, I like how the app is laid out and how easy it is to find and access whatever you’re looking for, I like being able to see my stamps and how close I am to my reward, I like being able to order from the app and being able to track my orders from within the app, I like being able to have multiple wish lists, I like all of the details that are included when viewing a book (They even include the book’s Lexile!), I like being able to see up and coming events, and I like being able to show an associate my rewards card barcode instead of making them type in my long email lol. I give the app 4 stars only because it took them so long to fix the issues, and I would love a feature within the app that tells you the location of a book within the store you’re visiting

3. 1/5New update is not great

   This new update is rough. I use the BN app to keep a wishlist of all the books that aren’t out yet and when I go in store I can check the wishlist to see if they are out yet and keep track of all the books I need(it’s a lot.) But this app makes it difficult to do that. When you use the search bar to search something up, after you search it, it disappears and you can’t edit your search, you have to go back and start all over again(and some of the books I have, have super long titles and different volume numbers so that’s super inconvenient.) Next is the online ordering. When I can’t find the books in store I will order them online. I personally only like to order books that are out, and rarely preorder stuff. Well when I go in my wishlist to add the “in stock” items to cart, it says everything is in stock and will ship in 1-2 days, when really it won’t come out for months and you’d actually be preordering it, which I do not want to do. A book should not say “in stock” and “will ship in 1 to 2 days” if it is a preorder and not releasing for months. That’s super confusing! It also makes it hard to know when this book will actually release because they all say “in stock”. Overall whoever made some of the decisions in the new updated on the app didn’t do a great job.

4. 1/5Worse With Each Update

   This app had been broken for a while and the biggest issue with previous versions was the app constantly logging you out and not saving things correctly, on top of being laggy. I’ve been a long time shopper of B&N however so tried using the app for convenience sake when I can’t access a PC. This new update however has made it virtually impossible to even use the app and there’s no point of using it over a browser version. There are now ZERO back buttons that I have seen from using the app, and screens such as the Account Dashboard remove the top bar entirely making switching between tabs a confusing mess. The Account Dashboard pops up every time you open the app, which is increasingly offensive seeing how there is no way to return to the Home Screen from within this menu. You cannot browse multiple books without having to re-enter searches, filters and restarting the process entirely. The programming is actively discouraging you from looking at more than a singular book. And that’s if it even lets you look at one at all. There are instances where when you select something, it will keep bouncing and glitching between the page you selected and the previous one you were on. And it’s STILL laggy, refuses to register and is extremely delayed. I’m sure there are plenty more glitches that I haven’t discovered from my limited time using the app after its latest update, but I am done trying. It’s unusable. Purely aesthetic changes with no improvements to its basic functions are a joke. I strongly believe that they have no one on their team testing the app before releasing it, or else these egregious surface level issues would never have seen the light of day.

5. 1/5Overall A Poor App Experience

   Unfortunately the app won’t even let me log in anymore. Before it at least used to let you log in and would just log you out at inconvenient times. Now it will not let you click the boxes to enter your email and password. The app is constantly freezing when I try to look at anything, even scrolling in my own wishlist will make it crash. And every time it does this, it logs you out. The majority of the time I have to switch to my laptop to complete a transaction because it glitches and won’t let me input payment information. Half the time the information for a deal isn’t available to be viewed either, I think from the app glitching, so it’s impossible to tell if a deal is available both in store and online or strictly online. There’s so much wrong here that could be fixed to make the app an easy to use tool. I don’t know who decided to get on here and respond to reviews like people are stupid, telling me to try turning my WiFi off and on and closing any apps running in the background but this is NOT a turn it off and on situation. There are issues with this app down to the baseline. The problems happen even when it’s the only app I have open and whether I’m on WiFi or not. It’s not a consumer issue it’s a YOU issue.
