   I don’t like that you never know when a parent might request you to babysit and you can’t reach out to parents when they need a babysitter. I also don’t like how you can’t change your rate depending on the number of kids. I get requests for my minimum rate of $15/hr (which is for 1 kid) for 3 kids and I charge at least $20 for 3 kids on other apps. That request in particular was for 3 kids all under the age of 3 which $15/hr for is very low. I hate how parents are charged so much more than what I’m getting. The app charges parents almost $18/hr when I’m getting $15/hr. That’s a lot of money for the app per hr of each babysitting gig which I find very excessive. One thing I really like about other apps is that the experience between parent and babysitter is more personable prior to the babysitting gig. On other apps, you can exchange phone numbers and it’s common to have phone calls prior to meeting, which makes meeting a lot less awkward. It’s always awkward on Bambino meeting the parents for the first time and also staying alone with their kids on that same meeting. It’s like an interview and the babysitting gig all at once. Usually very few messages are exchanged after accepting the job and I didn’t feel it was a good fit once I went to the house on multiple occasions. But, because of strict guidelines, such as not exchanging phone numbers which can get you banned, the parent and sitter don’t get to know each other very well prior to the gig. Overall, there are a lot more rules than other apps which all serve to ensure Bambino is getting their $3/hr per gig. This app would be better for 14-17 year olds with minimal experience IMO.

2. 1/5Missing Payments

   I joined this app as a means of making some money on the side, I’ve always loved to babysit and figured this app was a good way to connect with families in the city looking for fill-in child care. The connection aspect of the app is wonderful, as are the families I have met through Bambino, however receiving payment from Bambino has been more than a challenge. To put it lightly. A 2-3 business day window is given to sitters to expect payment after the job is completed and confirmed on the families end - of the times I have sat through the app my payment has only been received in that window on one occasion. They are plagued with delays and excuses for non-payment. I’m currently awaiting payment for a job completed NINE days ago, and I have reached out every day after that initial 3 day window and they have been less than helpful. I will submit a inquiry as to the status of my funds, be told I will receive payment by that evening or at least a message back within 24 hours - neither has come. At the very least they should be responsive and keep sitters up to date on the status of the payments, especially if they are going to be late. The responsibility should not be on me, the sitter, to track down my payment as I have already completely the work required of me. So disappointed in this service as it has the potential all to be amazing. Beware if you’re trying to make quick cash on the side, you will not be paid in any sort of timely fashion.

   I am a sitter, and have been using Bambino for a few years now (I think since 2019 or so, don’t even remember). A few weeks ago I noticed that the max hourly rate was reduced by $5/hr. I contacted tech support and was assured it was a technical glitch and would be fixed. Today I received a follow up email explaining how there are now “levels” of sitters and how they have to complete a number of sits, gain whatever number of five star ratings etc etc - just to “get” to the “elite level” sitter where my max hourly rate would not be capped. So, in my case I’d have to work for less money than I have been working for years AND prove that I am worthy, AND maintain the status by harassing employers and asking for good ratings. Sitters, beware! Review your profiles, and good luck jumping through hoops just to make a few extra dollars. Update: Bambino responded to my review explaining their policies and “levels”. While the answer is polished up and calm, I find it more than just WEIRD that after many years of using the app, I fell from “elite” to whatever level sitter and got my rate lowered and capped by $5/hr only because I had to say no to a few booking requests because of my schedule and other commitments. It’s almost like I am losing experience the more years go by. Hahah. I deactivated my Bambino account. If I have to play Hunger Games, it is not going to Bambino’s TEMU version.

   This app doesn’t have a website, you cannot put a range for your rate since it depends on how many kids you will be working with. It only let you put one rate which is an inconvenience and any parents can still book you with that rate even if they have 100 kids. Totally ridiculous. I work on an hourly basis not a miserable flat rate. It doesn’t let you choose the minimum hours you want to work for. A parent sent me a booking of only $15 for a 45min job with 2 kids one being autistic. I totally declined! Why would I go to a sitting if I can’t make at least $60? On other websites I charge at least 25/hr for 2 kids with a minimum of 3hrs. This app is worthless. If you are highly educated whether you are a parent or caregiver, just go with Urbansitter instead. Also, the customer representative named ELIZABETH, she doesn’t understand English and for a simple yes or no questions, you have to send at least 15 emails (truly mean it) which is totally an inconvenience. Unfortunately, this app doesn’t have a background check feature where you can use the link and purchase your background check and have the badge on your profile so that parents can know that you can be trusted. Someone texted me that I have to give my card information so that they can process on their end which is a no. I prefer to stick to other websites such as Care, Sittercity and Urbansitter where they have the feature on their site and you can do the purchase right there without having to disclose anything to anybody. My hope was high for Bambino but this is totally a failure from their end.

5. 2/5App has great potential just 1 main problem

   The app has great potential for babysitting jobs , BUT the main problem i have is that they allow parents to request multiple people at the same time and once you accept they all of a sudden always “choose another sitter” it’s quite annoying to think you have a gig coming just to see they canceled right after.. I think the app should give the sitter a certain amount of time to accept the request based off the parents needs and then proceed to give them other options to request other people if the time is not for filled. If you’re lucky you might find a family who wants to use regularly which is the goal for most people but it can be impossible with this issue..another issue is not being able to communicate off hand with parents.. you shouldn’t have to pay for something like that in this situation, they also don’t allow sitters to chose a rate for multiple children which is another big issue because obviously 2+ children is not going to be a basic flat rate! Most people don’t actually read your bio to even see and since you can’t communicate on the app without paying that can be a huge misunderstanding when it comes to getting paid!
