5/5Best software synth I ever played
Thanks so much for making this free. This is the best app you ever made. I was surprised with how much detail this includes. For a while, I stopped using software synths and tried to create my own hardware synth sounds in the korg minilogue. I love that I can plug my guitar into it to get the filter, lfo and delay effects. I wish I had a AudioKitSynth One J6 HARDWARE synth that I can plug my guitar into to use the effects as well. It would probably be so expensive though. Even though this is software, all the textures and many layers of this synth gives strong illusions of that hardware feel. Well done on this masterpiece app. My only request is if you can add a feature while changing the tuning from 440. Please allow 2 decimal values. I used to play 432 tuning because it’s like a rounded off earth frequency, but I now play a tuning that’s tuned exactly to earth and it gives a calming sensation. And if you add this feature, please also allow typing in the value. Other apps that allow tuning with 2 decimal numbers mostly only has a knob to adjust the tuning that doesn’t allow the exact value I need. I can use another app to pitch it close to where I need it, but that creates lag when I play.

5/5Truly, Truly Unbelievable!
Its very rare that i write a review these days with the zeitgeist seemingly bombarding us with discontent at every turn, but — this synth motivates me. I cannot believe that this is free! In my personal opinion, this provides a warmer, fuller version of the real analog synth sound than any other i’ve heard yet and i’ve been buying ios synthesizers for about 15 years. Beautiful effects contribute to the sound for sure but remove all the effects and it still sounds smooth, lush and warm. I am primarily a guitar player and this synth truly feels like the tone of a singing yet biting tube amp. The kind people pay big money for. Sometimes a developer, due to who knows what factors, comes up with something exceptional beyond words and this synth in my opinion is one of those instances. I don’t know how much better software synth can sound because this really does sound like the intended original. Well done Audiokit! And better than well done for making this piece of technical art free. That, in our age of selfishness is almost as great a thing as the sound itself. Thank you devs.

It’s always the great ones that know how to function in society properly. What am I speaking about? Principles, character, good folk. The fact this is free is criminal. Do what they ask and leave a honest review. It’s crazy, cause I know that’s what they want. They don’t want you to say you like it if you don’t. What they do want is a balanced critique. So if you do not like it say why. Anyway the sound quality is bonkers. And not just like for an app. No the sound quality is ridiculous. Hook up a decent midi to this and it’s your fault if you can’t get something properly done. Ok that’s it. I only poke my head out of my cave to leave these kind of things when I’m emotionally moved. I didn’t even mention the free stuff in addition to. Seriously you (synth one) should ask for something. Seriously.

4/5This app Is so close to perfect, but…
I think that, if an app were to have full support with their previous versions, it would have to have all the previous effects present from those versions. What I’m trying to say is that there are 2 things missing from this version and the synth one; FM synthesys, and distortion. For the first one, all you would need to do is be able to rewire an oscilator to modulate like an lfo in a small drop-down menu. (Or independent fm knobs would be nice too). For the second one, any classic 80’s distortion would work wonderously (saturation would be nice to thicken sounds). Also (last thing), I know that these are all likely unsupported with the original J6, but they would help to move people over from synth one into the new app. I know it takes a lot to add features like this, but it would go a long, long way in improving this app, and user’s experience with them.

5/5GET THIS APP!
I either get or purchase all AudioKit apps as a matter of course, because they’re that good! As many of you know, after a while, synths can start to sound “kind of” the same, other than layouts or skins being different. And some synths have their own flavor that distinguishes them from the others. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SYNTHS! And the “in-app purchases” mentioned in the slate is merely so you can contribute to the developer. May I suggest that you do so? This synth is a game-changer!!! Bravo to you all!!!

J6 now responds to MIDI Program Change in hosts like AUM. • Alternate “A” tuning now recalls with AUv3 saved state and presets. Reload projects at 432 Hz (or any tuning), and save different tunings per preset. Use the new Lock button next to tuning to keep the same tuning while you change presets. • Close button added to the Bluetooth MIDI Keyboard popup (especially useful on iPhone).
