5/5Popular mechanics article on consciousness research today in the news
This is not a review of the actual article just my opinion about the headline and the body of the article should be more thoroughly scrutinized but not by me today. I have been hoping there would be more research in the field of consciousness. Many chiropractors and naturalpaths utilize applied kinesiology or AK which is known as muscle testing in the parlance of our times. This might be why it is so effective because their theory in complementary medicine is that consciousness is outside of our brain and we are just antennas tapping into that universal resource. Also that we have access to all knowledge as it has been recorded in reality throughout time & human history. This should be investigated further so that people can determine truth from falsehoods for themselves and not rely on news media or other outside information sources which are beyond most peoples grasp due to highly specialized fields like law, medicine and scientific research. We really need a quick way to determine the validity of someone and someone’s proclamations especially in the political realm. Most recently I used muscle testing by making a statement about the missile that landed near the hospital in Gaza. I immediately determined that it was not an Israeli missile and that it was an errant missile launched from within Gaza. Information like that could be very helpful to help calm peoples nerves down this is getting out of control because everybody’s opinion is not worthy of consideration if it’s not factual. DT

2/5A few glaring flaws keep this from being 5 stars
I’ll hit two flaws here, because they’re major. (1) Apple skews its news sources to the cultural left rather than aiming for the center or center-left. And on some results, for example, a search for “Elon Musk,” the NEWS app seems to actually avoid anything complimentary. That’s irritating, but one flaw is utterly offensive: The daily crossword puzzle is composed by someone utterly consumed with sexual references, particularly trans activism. And to make it clear why I take offense: I don’t want ANY crossword puzzle to make frequent mention of ANY sexual themes, hetero, homo, trans, or otherwise. This is not a matter of being prudish on the customer’s point; it’s a matter of a puzzle maker who appears obsessed and determined to make the puzzle a personal crusade to inject sexual themes at every opportunity. Why not get a job with an adult rag, rather than with an organization that, despite its regular pride themed products, at least doesn’t make them mandatory for ever consumer? The crossword puzzle should be, like Apple in general, a cut above the others. But it isn’t. It’s actually a few cuts below. UPDATE: June 28, 2024 Crossword starts with “Queer Shabbat service leaders,” and the Mini-Crossword includes “Black Lesbian identity.” Two different authors, which leads one to conclude that Apple either happily sanctions this sexual obsession or just doesn’t manage this element of the app. Tim Cook provides much good leadership, especially regarding user privacy, but why alienate a large portion of Apple’s subscribers?

1/5The amount of bugs is concerning
The fact taht this is the native news app and had this many problems is very concerning for me. Apple had touted their user experience and software a direct result of that. Over the past 5 years that could not be farther form the truth and now especially Apple News. I found it strange that the news app would ahve such a deal for news+ so I tried and im glad i did because I now know to never use Apple News for a whole host of reason. The first being that the App Store kept telling me that I need to redownload the app despite using it for the past month it still says I need to redownload the app. I can acces from the app and widget but that brings me to another concern of mine. If you would like to access stories from the widgets, it takes you to a screen about 1/10 the size of the entire screen of the iPad. That’s also not to mention the fact that you can’t make this story full screen anyway or anyhow, it’ll only take you to the channel or close the window if he tried to do anything else.. This is incredibly concerning considering my phone has all of my personal data on it and yet I can’t even supply some of the simplest of tasks to me. I have now canceled my subscription to news plus I will never ever use news plus again and also in consideration is whether I will continue to even use my Apple products I have considered switching to Samsung and I think now is the time. Sincerely an incredibly disgruntled and disappointed customer.

1/5Useless
Apple News is the Fox News of the apps. It’s pointless with stories that obviously haven’t been fact checked leaving people misinformed and in some cases just lied to. Supposedly you can tailor it match your preferences, but no it only lets you do so much before it just plain ignores you and puts up whatever it wants. I got it for the magazine subscriptions but after trying to look at the one sided news stories it almost makes me want to get rid of the whole app and go back to printed magazines instead. I’m sure they’ll respond by saying I’m not making the correct the selections, but no I’ve looked up every forum for ways to fix it but they don’t work. I’m sure their next claim will be my phone isn’t updated or outdated but it’s not that old and the app isn’t that complicated. I get better results just going to the google home page for news that is relevant based on my choices. Pretty sad when a phone brand is biased towards a certain agenda when it comes to your news and if I wanted that I’d watch Fox News March 3, 2026 Update: Apple news is still garbage. AI isn’t helping any if anything it’s worse. How stupid can some of these people be. The news is either outdated or inaccurate. It’s like they use influencers to pick the articles they do post and the rest is just a cross between nonsense and stupidity. Not to mention the fact that after I’ve made my selections as to what I want see on the app it just disregards it and streams whatever it wants. What a waste of a system app.

2/5Why pay?
If I’m going to get so many ADs even when paying then why pay? I prefer to just go to the actual website for most sites. There I get less ads and at least I don’t get the same hearing aid ads or random ads that kind of look and take up the entire page whether or not I’m looking at an iPad or an iPhone whatever the ad takes up most of the page and always breaks up the articles in weird ways. I get that I’m paying for access to things I wouldn’t have normally, but if I paid for something like National Geographic, which I do separately, I don’t get any ads. I would hope that I would get less ads as an apple subscriber or at least not have them interrupt my article in such annoying ways numerous times if the article is one page I could have 2 to 3 ads and that just is unnecessary. I don’t think it’s really paying for access to articles that I necessarily need and again I’d rather know that I’m supporting these websites rather than question if I’m just paying to get access to it and know if it’s going to the actual news organizations just to having access and still having ads and then to have it just so in your face on top of that, I don’t get it. I will see what I do like is the games I like the sudoku I like the mini crossword and the crossword, but that’s pretty much it and you don’t need to pay for that and I don’t get ads for that which to me I would almost understand a subscription for that more than paying for access to give certain new sites pennies and still get ads and again to have them so in your face and interruptive
