  1. 1/5Literally the worst.

I just got an electric car and I was excited because my school had chargers on campus to use for students. Little did I know that my college picked the worst chargers that exist. The first time I tried to use the charger I spent almost 45 minutes getting different errors saying I didn’t plug in my car so it cancelled my charging session. After I plugged the charger back into the machine and tried again, it told me I was already charging and couldn’t plug in another vehicle. So I waited, then tried again. It wouldn’t let me use the charger this time because the “Charger is already in use”. After going through this cycle for 45 minutes, I called customer service. The guy was difficult to understand and not very helpful. I explained the issue and he then had me go through the whole process to no avail. He then tried to reset the machine and it completely shut down all together. He then said he couldn’t fix the problem at all and I should try a different charger and hung up. So I moved my car to a new charger and tried that one and it finally worked. For 42 seconds exactly. Then it cancelled my charge for no apparent reason. Customer service was off the phone at this point and I tried to reconnect my car without it working. It’s been three days now and I still haven’t gotten my car to charge reliably with these. If you want to waste your time with the chargers, use these! If you want to have poor customer service, hire AmpUp! and if you want to waste your money on a charger, install these!

  2. 1/5The last thing the EV charging world is another app; especially another bad app

At this point we need to band together and refuse to install a single additional charging app. Ampup displays chargepoint chargers in their map; they should just let you use the chargepoint account you already have to use the ampup chargers too. This app is hot garbage. Having to download a new app, make a new account, figure out a new app, store another $10 in another account is ridiculous. I have probably $100 locked away in obscure charging company accounts that I almost never get to use. It's such a scam. If you want to start a new charging network, roll it into EV Connect or Chargepoint, or just put credit card terminals on your gear. Otherwise you'll be doing more good for the EV Revolution by staying home, doing nothing, and not polluting our phones with another terrible app.

  3. 1/5This app is evil

You’re supposed to drive up to the parking spot, scan the thing, then plug in the car, and then you’re good. All the other apps manage to get that right. Every second of using this app is torture. It signs you out of your account every time you open it. You can’t sign back in with Google because a Google account already exists (so just let me sign with googles authenticator?????) so you gotta go back into their impossible to use interface and try and sign in there but you don’t know if it’s the Google password or if you set an AmpUp password like a year ago and don’t remember. Make sure you get it within the first three (3) tries because if not they’ll lock your account for three (3) hours. Because these extreme hackers really would care about cracking into my AmpUp account so they can spend a way too large amount of my money on electricity, the same stuff that lightning and hamsters in wheels make for FREE. Anyways I had more of a point but I forgot it, this app is evil, do not use it

  4. 5/5Best EV App on the market

The Amp Up - EV Charging app is fantastic! Setting it up was a breeze, and everything worked perfectly the first time I used it. The interface is intuitive, making it easy to locate and start charging sessions without any hassle. It’s also incredibly reliable—each time I’ve used it, the experience has been consistent and smooth. If you want a quick and easy way to manage EV charging, this app is definitely worth trying!

  5. 1/5$400+ in fees (RUN, DON’T USE)

I was charged over $400 in fees even after I had already clicked “Stop Charging” in the AmpUp app. My session was finished, my vehicle had stopped receiving power, and I ended the charge manually, yet the system kept billing me for hours as if it were still running. This is not user error; it’s a major flaw in the app’s software or billing system. When a customer ends a session, the system should stop charging immediately. Instead, AmpUp’s platform quietly continues to accumulate idle fees, and there’s no warning or confirmation screen to alert users that the session didn’t actually stop. Charging customers for services after they have explicitly stopped the session is UNACCEPTABLE and feels like STEALING MONEY from people’s pockets. It’s deeply unethical to let this kind of bug or system failure persist, especially when it results in hundreds of dollars in unjustified charges.
