  1. 1/5Works as an RSS reader for about five minutes

Such a great promise and a nice looking app, but I think there’s more than just looks to things. As soon as I started editing feeds the app started behaving erratically and now I can’t even open it. I double click on it. It just crashes and I’m asked to submit the crash report

  2. 2/5Worked for a day

The app worked flawlessly for a day or two. A lot of potential. Unfortunately, after that it started crashing on launch and I haven’t been able to use it for over a week. If it were patched this app would be my go to rss reader.

  3. 1/5Completely unusable

iOS app crashes on launch. So does the macOS app. Would give negative stars if I could.

  4. 1/5Crashes on launch

    Title says it all.

  • 1.1

Amethyst 1.1 adds a plethora of features to truly enrich the experience and make the app feel much more complete. Here's what's new: - Amethyst Plus now live! For unlimited push notifications, the ability to follow writers, and customization - you can subscribe to or purchase Amethyst Plus. - New custom reader view on macOS and visionOS, no more direct web views! iOS and iPadOS still use the native Safari reader mode. - Two new toggles for the reader: one to enable/disable reader views based on the source, and another to bypass opening in app entirely, in case you prefer your browser. - Widgets, for both home screen and lock screen! You can set whatever feed you’d like to follow - whether that be a folder, a specific publication, all of your favorites, or a specific writer. - On that note, you can also now follow writers! If you want to follow one author you really like from a publication - and only keep up with their work, now you can! You can see writers on individual feeds, and there’s also a combined following feed for all of your followed writers. - Apple Watch support! This comes with a complication that shows a headline from your specified source, similar to the iPhone lock screen widget. When you open an article from a complication (or a notification), it’ll pass it to your iPhone with handoff so you can read it from there. You can customize the source in the iPhone app. - Read individual feeds on iPhone: This feature was available on platforms with sidebar, but wasn’t possible on iPhone until now. Now, read with more granularity. - Notification improvements: more reliable, less prone to bugs that cause notification floods, image previews, syncing improvements, and the ability to mark feeds as time sensitive. As part of these improvements, favorites now have notifications enabled by default, though you can still disable notifications for a favorite in settings. - Early localization: English AU/CA/GB, Portuguese, Italian, French, Spanish, and German. - Smaller improvements: added tips for better UI navigation, improved visionOS UI layout, ability to set theme colors, ability to delete articles from app, and scrolling improvements. Thanks for using Amethyst!
