  1. 3/5Great content but the apps leave much to be desired

Alo moves is one of my favourite subscriptions in terms of content. It is really fantastic but the quality of the apps is not great. There’s constant flickering of the screen when you go into a series to check it out and come back to the previous screen with the content not being in the place where it was. This is very disorienting when you’re trying to find new series to add to your practice. The iPad app seems to be just a blown out version of the iPhone app that doesn’t really take advantage of the bigger screen. It therefore has the same issues as the iPhone. The Apple TV app doesn’t even allow you to perform a search and most of the series’ sections are empty. Also, when a video finishes on the Apple TV, the screen remains black instead of automatically take you to the screen where the video is played. I find this very odd. The Apple TV also does not signal which classes you’ve already done. This is something the iPhone does. For some reason, the calendar on your profile does not get populated with the workouts you’ve done automatically. This seems rather odd considering that the information is already there in their servers and the user can select the privacy level within the community. Again, great content but the apps really need some substantial amount of work. It also wouldn’t be a terrible idea to add social median links to the instructor profiles.

  2. 5/5Great yoga app

I started using the yoga classes on fitness apps that I use regularly (Nike Training and Fit On) to supplement HIIT and strength workouts. After getting a bad case of plantar fasciitis last year, I decided to spend more time doing yoga and either did the free trial and/or subscribed to a bunch of Yoga apps. Alo Moves by far is my favorite-there’s a huge library, there are a lot of power and vinyasa classes which I prefer, the fitness portion of the app is pretty good, it syncs with my Apple Health and Workout apps, there’s an Apple Watch app that reads your heart rate, and there is a wide variety of beginner to advanced classes. Although I agree that the app can get glitchy when looking for classes, it’s not too bad and the search and filters are very useful. For reference purposes, I have subscribed to or currently subscribe to Down Dog (very disappointing and even with the various options, it gets repetitive and no Apple Watch app), Asana Rebel (interesting mix of fitness exercises within traditional yoga but the library is small and they only added three new classes within the year), Yoga Collective (not bad-some challenging classes but overall, the search and menu functions are limited and there is no Apple Watch app), You Aligned (great production but somewhat pricey for what you get and no Apple Watch app), Yoga Download (huge library but the production looks somewhat amateurish, the menu functions are limited and no Apple Watch app), Yoga-Go (horrible just did the free trial), Daily Burn (I did not try it long enough to have an opinion), and Daily Yoga (horrible app-just did the free trial).

  3. 5/5You won’t find anything like it here is why!!

UNREAL!!!!!! I have gone to several yoga classes and gone with the flow, tried several apps and they were annoying because he could not adjust the music, it was boring, and they didn’t get into great detail about the moves. I will forever use this app. I was so against yoga online until this. I love that I can adjust the music and it doesn’t affect the entire volume of the class, just the music. First huge bonus for me. Never in my life in person or online has anyone ever explained in the moves in depth like the people in the app do. I super freaking appreciate all the education I get from this. Not only do they explain the movement in great detail so I actually learn how to do the moves properly, and understand what is going on in my body and how I should adjust, but instead of just following someone on a screen blindly thinking I’m doing the moves, they actually explain why a move or stretch or whatever is beneficial on top of it. I learned about how certain moves and stretches open the body and release stored emotions, (which you can certainly feel) and release lubricants in the body that is needed for the joints, and when to stop and listen to my body if something is too much so I don’t hurt myself. I would’ve never known stretching to be as beneficial as it is and I will always do it every single day now because of this education. The guy Dylan on here is probably the best hands down, (will you marry me dylan? Lol) highly recommend this to anybody, ANY LEVEL!!!!!! They have beginner, moderate, intermediate, and advanced. There is all sorts of variety. You will get so much out of it, I don’t think I ever will go in person to a yoga class again. I even have my kids doing this stuff with me. I feel amazing, there is so much variety on here it’s overwhelming in a good way I am overly excited. Thank you Alomoves!!!!!!!!!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕

  4. 3/5Would be 5 stars if they made 1 change

I really like this alo moves app. I have been doing Yoga for 6 years and I guess over time I have become a bit particular. I like my instructors to know what they are doing, and I want my yoga classes to be a relaxing and unwinding end of my day. The Alo moves Yoga instructors are top notch. But the second piece of what I am looking for in a class is relaxing atmosphere, which is where the music comes in. The music should help me to relax and unwind. Most of the music on the app is great, but some classes have music that includes lyrics. Here is the problem. When there are lyrics in the song, and the instructor is also speaking… that means there are two voices at the same time. Maybe it’s me, but my brain absolutely cannot make sense of two voices speaking/singing simultaneously. It may sound weird but it gives me some sort of anxiety because my brain can’t choose what to listen to…which is the opposite of what I want in a yoga class. I want to relax. Please take out songs with lyrics for yoga classes, or give us the ability to choose our style of music. I will then give a 5 star rating, as I really do like this app. Thanks!!

  5. 5/5Cast to TV doesn’t work

Love the app and the workouts, but only being able to use my tiny phone screen is a major downfall. Too often, I have to pause workouts to rewind, get closer to the screen to watch and then rewind to catch up with the move again. Not exactly the smooth flow to a workout that I want. The app and their website says you can cast to a device or TV, but it’s never worked for me and lots of others users have had similar issues in online forums. I’ve tried two different smart TVs, a fire stick, a Roku box and even just casting to my laptop for a slightly bigger screen. Nope! When trying to cast, I always get the same error message that there are no devices available despite everything being on the same network. I’m a super tech savvy person, have wasted an hour troubleshooting with the same results. Very frustrating. Others who have had success, say music is an issue. Alo, PLEASE work on this with your developers.
