5/5Longtime fan hoping for even more improvements!
I’ve been using Aaptiv for close to three years now and I love it. I first downloaded it for a fourth trimester workout plan after having my son, and while (sadly) that program is long gone, I’ve gotten so much out of this app. It’s got a very clean design and is super user friendly. I love having a personal trainer in my ear, and that many of them are great at instructing you without visuals (I hate having to look at a video to work out), but the move sync and instructional clips for strength training, Pilates, etc. is super helpful when you need it. I don’t love the “choose your own music” feature for cardio workouts since they’re mostly set to the beat of the music, but all the new workouts seem to have a curated playlist so I tend to stick to those. Because of this app, my husband and I have been able to build a home gym that we actually use and that’s awesome. I would love to see more training programs that incorporate spinning or the elliptical for those of us who can’t/don’t run and maybe an augmented nutrition feature. I also really like that this exercise app feels very body positive and is not entirely focused on shrinking your body, but in boosting your mood, improving your strength, etc. In that same vein, the sleep and meditation categories have helped my mental health during the pandemic. Overall, a remarkably well-rounded fitness app that supports you in many facets of your life and gets results. Worth every penny!

5/5Listen up. You need to try this app immediately.
I am a person that struggles with my fitness. I’ll get in shape and then fall out of shape, lose weight, then gain it all back again. The struggle is real! The gym is too far away, I’m too cheap to pay for a personal trainer and I get sick of the same home workouts with the same smiley trainers that make the exercises look so easy when they are so gosh darn hard. When I discovered Aaptiv I was skeptical, but after all the great workouts and tips I learned I signed up for the full account. I’m SO glad I did because with every update there are more and more amazing workouts! And now it even works with my Apple Watch! Best Christmas present this year. This app motivated me to continue to bundle up and run outside even when it was below zero because the workouts felt good! Now, that the weather has won (up here in Ontario) and negative temperatures have forced me inside to the dreaded treadmill I’m trying out new workouts. If you didn’t catch my hint before, I HATE the treadmill, I like scenery and to feel like I’m going somewhere when I run. However, after just two workouts with some of my favorites (Meg Takacs and Benjamin Green I can honestly say, it’s turning my opinion of the cursed machine around! I love love love this app! Talk about it all the time to friends and family and now can’t wait to give them free trials! I hope I’ve convinced you to try it! I promise it’s phenomenal. Also, it’s worth noting that this is the first review I’ve ever written for an app. For that alone, you should try the app.

5/5Poor Customer Communication
I loved this app. You can sort exercises by trainer, type, length, and difficulty level. Super user friendly. I would look at a whole week in advance and plan my workouts. Recently, they pulled ALL my favorite classes and my two favorite trainers. They did not give notice. I finally found out by going out to their FB page. I made sure every workout I left a review about the class and what I thought about the trainer. If they were truly meeting the needs of their clientele, then they would have seen that some of us primarily only used what they pulled. The sad thing is they have no other similar classes or the type of trainers I learned to love. Also, their customer service is lacking. They say you can email for help. I emailed due to technical issues. That was yesterday and I am still waiting to hear back and it was “during hours”. When you are working out, most people have only so much time. If you can’t use the app due to technical issues and have to wait days to resolve, that pretty much squelches that workout plan. I would hope Aaptiv would be more responsive to their users technical issues as well as notify them regarding changes to the program. I signed up for the old Aaptiv. I feel I should be able to get my money back as this is not the program I signed up for.

3/5Bugs need eradication
I used this app several years ago with great success. It was a great app to have the curated runs with appropriate music, all synced up perfectly. The encouragement from the coaches was spot on. I’ve just come back to the app after several years of not using it and I find that many of the program outdoor running workouts do not download to the Apple Watch Ultra. This is a huge disappointment as I refuse to take my iPhone brick on runs with me. I called customer service after getting their phone number from the email response and I actually got a call back! I talked to Kris and he said that they were going to be working on fixing this bug so that all the workouts work on the Apple Watch Ultra. I am extremely skeptical that they will fix this, but I’ll give them a chance. I see that this problem has existed for a long time as per the reviews. If this doesn’t get fixed I’m going to delete the app and suspend my subscription as the app does no good for me if I can’t use it on my Apple Watch. More to follow. I’ll give them a nominal one month to get it fixed and then I’m out of here if it’s not. I doubt if I’ll get a response to this review, as most of the less than positive reviews, don’t receive any response. We’ll see, and if they claim they don’t have my email, that’s false as I gave it to Kris on the phone call and they’ve gotten it several times via my customer service emails. Get to work Aaptiv!

4/5Still great, not as awesome as it used to be
After using for a year, here’s what I think: Pros: I have been unathletic and out of shape my whole life. Intimidated by the gym, even when I wanted to work out I didn’t know how. This app got me running, lifting weights, and feeling amazing. Seriously, I had never run a mile in my entire 40 years and now I’m running almost every day! I love that it’s audio only with nothing distracting to stare at. It tells me what to do and I do it. I have gotten to know and love each trainers individual style and personality. I even use the meditations to fall asleep or stay calm at work. And the cost is far less than a trainer or gym and you can take it anywhere. Cons: when I first signed up and talked all my friends and family into trying it, one of my selling points was that it had real music, not generic workout video music. You could run to Britney & JT, Michael Jackson, you name it. Last year that all changed. The music is now terrible. There are songs you know sprinkled in here and there but it’s nowhere near what it used to be. I am sure there are licensing issues at play but I for one think whatever it costs the investment would be worth it to retain and attract users. Personally I have no interest in using my own music as many users have asked for, so I hope they don’t go that route. Some users may not care as much about the music as I do but that was a huge part of my motivation during a workout. But all in all I still love the app and plan to use it as long as I can
