5/5Exceptional!!
I’m Soooo happy I found this app and Trainline!!! Without them it was impossible to purchase train tickets in Europe fro the US. All other sites gave me a very hard time to approve my purchase. Not Trainline. Of course, I had to register so that they got to know me better, lol. Before, I was so frustrated and nervous because my trip was getting closer and closer, and I didn’t have my tickets and reservations ready yet. I even had to purchase an airplane ticket to comeback to Paris from Bordeaux, since other sites didn’t even showed me the right itineraries. Trainline gave me all the options I needed. I’m so happy now, and my wife is so excited too. Thank you so much Trainline for offering me the trust I needed. God bless you!

3/5OK until something goes wrong
The translations and UI in English a bit hard to follow, but overall fairly easy to use. When our first train was cancelled (with no notice that 8 heard) we were able to board the replacement no problem showing the fix on the phone. However when trying to arrange a new connection it was very difficult and took a lot of waiting in line. Finally received great personal attention when I thought we’d never make it to front of line in time, the agent printed out the fix, said needed special attention with the discount(which I didn’t understand) but we got it. No seat assignments which made it difficult and awkward but it worked. Think we lucky. Train problems not app’s fault, but no good advice on how to fix the problem which would have been a huge help.

5/5Americans/European travelers should use this
This app is incredibly easy to use regardless of traveling one time or multiple times. You can reserve these tickets at home before you leave home or from the comfort of your hotel room once in Europe. And retrieving tickets at the train stations is a piece of cake. Sometimes the ticket machines don’t allow the charge to go through on my credit card forcing me to go from machine to machine finding one that will. This app saves valuable time. Greatly appreciate this excellent app.

2/5No track number info (a biggie) and not all train companies are available
I’ve been using it for 2 years. It is a a nice and convenient to use app, very easy way to purchase tickets. But there are four major drawbacks: 1. For the most tickets I bought through this app, the platform/track info wasn’t provided. This is a huge deal if you if are transferring to another train at a large station and have little time between trains. Sometimes the train info display is quite far from the track where you just exited. You need to run around with your bags to figure out your next track #. Not fun at all. So I often need to use local train app for a specific country to figure out more details.... 2. Train numbers are not always 100% accurate, which makes it even harder to find the platform. For example, I am on a train IC 508 at the moment, but my ticket shows 507. SNCB app (Belgian railroad app) shows the right train number (508) And yes, I am on the right train, one stop away from my destination :) 3. Some train companies are not available for purchase through the app. For example, while in Belgium I am seeing the schedule for Thalys trains in the app, but not able to purchase tickets. Had similar situations in other countries. 4. Inflexibility with time. Based on the info in the app, if you buy the ticket through Trainline EU app, you have to take that exact train, not earlier or later. You can exchange/return your ticket the day before travel before midnight. But you can’t take earlier or later train, should your circumstances change on the day of travel, even if the train doesn’t have assigned seats. However most tickets you buy through other venues are more flexible. You can take either train, as long as you travel on the same day you bought a ticket for. So, all in all, it is an ok app, but you’ll have to supplement with other train apps if you want more info and convenience.

4/5Doesn't provide ALL routes, but gives the best
I've been searching for a European train app for (mostly) research and planning purposes. Until now, iRail was the best. In my tests, Trainline provides most (not all) of your train route options, but it does provide the fastest routes. I mean, why choose the one option which takes an hour longer? While I tend to want to make the most informed decision and know all my options, the truth is, I would never take the least efficient option, so Trainline EU is my new go-to train app.. Another plus: a great help section! I like that they provide known strike information and user recourse.
