1. 5/5Interesting Concept

   I found out about this app through an ad on social media for one of the series, and mini dramas are definitely an interesting concept. Even though the shows are over-the-top and unrealistic, the fact that each episode is only about 1–3 minutes long makes it very easy to get hooked and want to finish a story. You can easily complete a full series in about an hour. One downside is that because the episodes are so short, characters tend to be very exaggerated in order to establish their personalities quickly. Villains, in particular, can act extremely over-the-top or cartoonishly evil. At times this can feel a bit intense, when it’s live-action shows. That said, because the episodes are so short, it’s easy to move past the more extreme moments without feeling stuck in them for long periods of time. Overall, the app is entertaining if you enjoy fast-paced, dramatic storytelling and don’t take it too seriously.

2. 5/5One Price, Entertainment Options

   I like that I only pay a single fee to be able to watch as much live action or anime as I want AND read as much as I want! This is how apps should be done I do have one question, however. For a while, we were able to find the name of the actors under the summary for each short film. That way you could watch a short film that you liked, look at who the actors were and then find other dramas that they were in. I love that feature! Now, you have to know who the actor is, which is often difficult to figure out with short dramas and then look for the short dramas that they are in. Please bring back this feature of including the main actors names in the summary, along with a couple categories that the short drama falls into.

3. 2/5Mostly AI, increasingly p*rnographic

   I like verticals and started watching DramaWave because I was curious about animated microdramas. DramaWave has a lot of them, and they use different genres than live-action (like fantasy, historical and Romantasy) which is cool…but the AI is distracting because it’s used too heavily. At least hire voice actors so the characters are speaking the words correctly. And several of their series are just playing out sexual fantasies (which mostly include sexual violence 🤢🤮), and the app recently released a tool to make them interactive. You can upload a photo to create an avatar that will be inserted as the protagonist of the vertical and you decide what the avatar does during steamy scenes. So the app is effectively allowing you to make your own erotica…which isn’t what I watch microdramas for. It also seems like this could be used for creepy purposes (you can upload any picture you want, and if it’s not a picture of you, then you’re making explicit material about someone who didn’t agree to it).

4. 4/5Great shows!

   The series’ are well-produced and generally have excellent actors. The soundtracks are well done too. There are also many unique dramas (not rehashes of the same tropes). The subtitles seem to be generated by a good machine translator, then proofed by an actual human who knows the languages. The length of most of the dramas is about equal to a movie, so an easy binge. But they are also broken into episodes in case you need to step away and catch up later. But I’ve gotta subtract a star for using Western names in the subtitles — especially because the same names keep showing up. For instance, I just finished a drama in which the main characters were Emily and Daniel in the subs, and the same subtitled names were in the recommended show that popped up immediately after. And a further request would be the ability to look up dramas using the actors names, if that’s possible.

   Honestly apps like these I feel should not exist if they do exist they should be free the amount that they have you pay for a VIP membership is ridiculous especially at like $15 a week. However, I have bought many memberships from different apps that do the same idea. And this one by far as the best only because of the fact, it has some good stories, it has comments so you can see how other people think about this and talk amongst yourselves, as well as holding to speed up the video like you can on TikTok. It’s more entertaining to know what other people who watch the same shows you watch are thinking and have conversations among other people so far truly like this app, even if I have to pay a lot.
